I'm betting the 1 vote was just "he's not Mariano Rivera".

Probably a Boston writer.

Whoever it was, he was obviously an idiot.

Based on past voting, I'm not surprised he wasn't unanimous. There are certainly better players in who weren't unanimous. All that matters is that he deserved to be in and he is.

Most people think it is a Boston writer but I really thing those writers respected The Captain. I really believe it is a Seattle writer since they also hate the Yanks and Griffey didn't get 100%.

I agree with bomberhojoe.

Eh, Mariano being unanimous was definitely deserved, but I feel like Jeter's achievements were amplified by the stage be was playing on. If he was playing for Kansas City putting up the same numbers, nobody would know his name.
That being said, great player who definitely deserves to be in the HoF, but I'm not upset about him being unanimous or not.

Now I can go to my grave knowing Mariano was the only player ever to be voted into the HOF unanimously, because no one is ever going to get 100% of the vote again in my lifetime...Trout's use of HGH guaranteed that.
