I'll be there quite a bit watching the workouts starting with pitchers and catchers. I usually go look a few days before because there are usually a few players milling around, usually players like Wade, and other back up back ups. During their workouts the players are always more relaxed and talkative especially the first few days they arrive. They are just as excited as the fans.

At field 2 where the pitchers practice their infield drills and throwing to the bases on pick off plays and going after bunts etc, there are some position players by the fences talking and signing autographs with the fans. It just is more fun to me than watching them play games because rarely are the star players ever in the game and if they are it's for an inning or two. I'm getting jacked up just writing about it!

BTW they just added a field or area, just for extreme work outs and drills, complete with a sort of steep hill to run up. That was sometime before last season. There are always players on it near year round now messing around with the hill. I think they are adding a sort of obstacle course or something similar there for this year. When I drive by  there are workers doing something to it.. Also on one of the side streets, yesterday, right near the work out field they had a water main break and there is a mess there right now. I wonder if the workers doing the field broke something. Get out the check book Hal, if that's the case. LOL...

I always get anxious for spring training. By the end of the first week of games I'm bored stiff and can't wait for it to be over. The only good thing is it sometimes presents some conversation on the boards

I always want to see the AA and AAA guys in action, though.

It's true. The ST games after a few days bore the hec out of me also that's why I like the workout drills better. It's cool to see the players all relaxed and kidding around with each other and the fans. Once the games start, They get serious especially the guys trying to win a spot and the starters trying to get game ready. After a few games watching the back up, back ups, I want to see real baseball! I agree with you.

I would think watching the workouts the drills, infield and batting practice would be fun. I'm jealous
