If I were the commissioner, I would seek legal council to find out if a deal can be worked out, where if he (the commissioner) bans all the Astros players (and management personnel) for life, whether it would be possible to keep major league baseball from having to pay any reparation damage in any lawsuits MLB may be getting as a result of the cheating. In other words, let those who plan to sue, sue the Astros players, and their management, but not the league itself. What better lesson could be learned if this were to happen?

Someone compiled some data from the videos with all the bangs from 2017 and Altuve (and a few others) recieved  very few bangs. Correa also came out in his defense to say that Altuve was one of the few who would be livid if someone were to bang when he was at the plate. Also, Altuve's away numbers that season were INCREDIBLE. The facts don't fit the narrative here.

I love the Yankees, and loathe the Astros for sure, but holy cow are some fans biased.

Here are some unpopular opinions:

-Judge didn't win the MVP in 2017 because he slumped to oblivion. What were his 2nd half numbers again? Couldn't have batted more than .260 for an entire 2.5 month stretch.

-Chapman choked in the 6th game of the ALCS. Looked completely lost out there. Had no fastball command and hung a slider to one of the best hitters in the game.

-If you're gonna hate each and every Astro player as if they were one congealed mass of cheating scoundrels, then Gerrit Cole is a cheating scoundrel as well. A cheating scoundrel whose salary the Yankees front office will be encumbered by for the next decade.

I feel like I've been put into the position of contrarian, but ****n it drives me up the wall to see such biased dialogue (not necessarily even on here,  but on Reddit as well and from Dodgers fans, too).

yes i've seen his home/away stats. and it's possible he "guessed" right because he was clearly sitting slider and it was a bad one.

but to me, and it's just my opinion - the altuve "don't rip my shirt" video is pretty damning. there is no way a player in perhaps the most euphoric, walk-off biggest hit in his career would be thinking about his jersey unless he had something to hide. at that moment (15 sec or so), you're out of your mind with joy. you're ecstatic with your teammates and home fans going crazy and you're worrying about his jersey? and then to run into the dugout, change and then come out and do the post-game interview. i've never seen a player do that before. like gary sanchez says, rip off my pants. cody bellinger echos the same thing. first altuve says it was because of his wife. there are a number of fotos of altuve with his shirt ripped off. suddenly he became shy?!? now correa says it was because of a "bad tattoo". sorry but something about it smells ...

I for one found something fishy about Cole and all other veteran pitchers discovering their best self in Houston.  Honestly aren't you a bit concerned?

I sincerely hope that Beltran didn't introduce the sign stealing to the Yankees.  That would explain a lot with so many marginal prospects, veterans, and journeymen exceeding all possible expectations offensively.

Cashman spoke on The Yankees integrity and Beltran yesterday. He's pretty emphatic that his house is in order.

On Beltran....The only inside info he got from him was crickets.

The Yankees weren't the ones being investigated... it was The Astro's and The Red Sox.

As for Cole... he wasn't in Houston in 2017. If was doing something "fishy" to strikeout players while on the Astros then he's going to have a hard time in NY. He's going to have a lot to prove.... if he sucks the fans will tear him apart like a pack of hungry wolves. As always big contracts come with big expectations... I.e. Giancarlo Stanton.

Here's the quote from Cahman

"I’ve worked in New York long enough to know, and I’ve tried to create the culture in our environment with our personnel — players, support staff, coaches — that there are no secrets,” Cashman said at George M. Steinbrenner Field, after the Yankees completed another pitchers’ and catchers’ workout. “If anything is going on that isn’t above board, it’s going to come out. It doesn’t matter what location you happen to be operating in. That’s obviously why the Houston Astros are going through what they’re going through.

“I’ll continue to push that environment here, which is do everything the right way. We’re going to try to continue to gravitate to the best players we possibly can and put them in the best position we can to have them succeed. Create an environment where we’re doing everything in our power to follow the rules and do it the right way, and then take our chances and live with the result after that.”

Cole wasn't there in 2017 and not sure how a pitcher who doesn't hit is a cheater.

I guess every player who didn't take PEDs but played with someone who did is a cheat according to that logic.

Don't care about Altuve. He'll get his share of brushbacks.

As with journeymen, I hope you are not referring to Urshela.  I don't recall any teams complaining about metal can drumming or buzzers employed in Yankees stadium.  The coming season will be telling as it relates to Urshela with Andujar is breathing down his neck.
