No worry about the coronavirus bug

There are a few reasons why there is so much more panic than SARS.

1. The media.
2. The containment. The SARS outbreak was contained months in the timeline before COVID-19 was. We have China to blame for this.
3. The outbreak is near our biggest city. This makes containment nearly impossible.
4. People are being given wrong advice. I responded Sunday to a person who was informed by his employer that he was exposed and he was told to go to the emergency room for testing. This is the last thing you want to do (walk into a public place full of sick people). Fortunately, he called 911, we got the county health department on the line, and we were able to give him instructions on what to do now and if he should develop symptoms.
5. We are similarly ill-prepared for COVID-19 as we were SARS but it's later in the process. This is by no fault of the CDC. Test kits can't just be made and stacked in a warehouse. With SARS, we had the time to prepare. With COVID-19, we are behind the 8 ball due to the slow notification by China.
6. People are taking statistics out of context, statistics that rarely went viral (excuse the pun) in the past. The death rate is highly inflated at this point, just as it was with SARS. Epidemiologists understand this and are not panicking but CNN doesn't nor do the social media pundits.

We will get through this. People will die. It will likely be worse than SARS. But it's not a pandemic. It's an outbreak. Keep things in perspective and don't let the hype stress you.

"I'm sure the worst Governor will handle this situation better than the idiot Trump."

Amen to that, Mo!  The Trump Administration has dispensed misleading information to try to cover up their botched response.  It's putting people in danger all over the country.  And the public is reflecting an understandable lack of confidence.

I do this stuff every day.  I'm definitely a more reliable source of information than MS-NBC.

What "misleading information" has been released?

You are a fraud...that's been obvious since you started spouting misinformation about the virus.

Trump's false statements have helped fuel the spread of the virus...he's refuted facts, been contradicted by people who actually know something about diseases, tried to shift blame to his usual convenient political targets, and criminally downplayed the dangers to the American people.

Conservative Columnist Says Trump's Turning Into 'Baghdad Bob' Over Coronavirus

Max Boot compares the president to the Iraqi official known for his comically false disinformation.

Looks like Trump is going to appeal to Congress to ask government to bail his administration out...

What will our resident quasi-libertarian have to say about that?
