Closing the Canadian border...from northern clipper

Putting troops at the border....does Trump realize how long the border actually is?  Does he realize it's the worlld's longest undefended border?  Does he appreciate the drain this puts on human resources in the US?  Does he realize that Canadians are being advised to get out of the US as soon as they can, not enter?  We are self-isolating, like you (I  hope).  No sensible person anywhere has any intention of travel anywhere other than for actual necessity (food, presecriptions or absolute essentials I may be forgetting).  Why would any Canadian want to travel anywhere, given current conditions?

On a slightly different topic, brighter minds than me (like Bill Gates tonight) have said it will be weeks, if not months, before schools open and that, even if they did, parnets would probably hesitate to return children to classes this year.  Looks like Trump's Easter date was just wishful thinking, or perhaps just  another example of his non-thinking.  nc

We really don't know what we are dealing with and what the long term implications will be.  Sweden has been pretty much business as usual but they have had few confirmed cases and fewer deaths.  As for schools my son's classes at his magnet have spooled back up online with computers.  He is a sixth grader and I am certain the transition will be more difficult for younger students, I don't think 3rd grade and younger are using computers yet in Florida.

Link?  How many troops and where will they be?

Canada also wants to close the border.   I would imagine what that means is that ports of entry will be restricted.   I don't think it means soldiers will be manning every square foot of the land.

Not every person is sensible, look at the people who just took Spring Break.

Easter is an optimistic wish, what would you like the POTUS to do exactly?  Tell us all we're screwed for months?  Tell us we're headed for a second Great Depression?   It really doesn't matter what he says, the media will twist it in the worst way possible and most people glued to the TV will nod at what the man in the TV says.

And BTW, Gates may have a personal interest in how the virus is treated:

Sweden might be changing their minds about that, since deaths increased there 60% in one day.

The border is closed...hias  been for some time eexcept for commerce between the two countries.

Soldiers can't possibly man the entire border.

Bill gates, a far more successfukl businessman than Trump, has already DONATED MILLIONS through his foundation.

The poster didn't answer most of the questions.

Regarding what Trump should say....How about the truth?  Like, what most people already know.  Prepare for no school classes for the rest of the year.  More deaths and hardship.  It's tough medicine,  but best in the long run, because it will ultimately result in a faster recovery.

If he'd just stop ramblling and read his script.  Stay on topic.  No one cares about "beautiful tests", tarifffs, steel, or what a nice guy the leader of S. Korea is.  nc

I’m sure there’s a much more polite phrase for it in Canada, but here in the states "the poster" is what is known as a “major league azzhole”.

He can't do it saddled with a double-digit IQ.

His arrogance and stubbornness override the limited logical thought processes he can muster.

I would say that a lack of any substance and real debate would indicate that you are afraid of those things.   Ad hominem is a child's tool.

All you have to do is look at his  behviour at the news conference.  I'm just stating what he does.  My questions are still largely unanswered.  nc
