Black communities across the country are showing support for their brothers and sisters in Minneapolis.  The rioting and looting, of course, are not the proper responses, but such reactions are understandable.  However, sad to say, those reactions may be the only ones that get the attention of the defenders of the status quo and foment change.

KKK Donnie just can't help himself from being a racist pig who he is.

Twitter Places ‘Glorifying Violence’ Warning On Trump's Tweet About George Floyd

Trump’s threat of violent retaliation against protestors “violated the Twitter Rules about glorifying violence,” the platform said.

Whenever protests turn violent it's said that protests are fine, but they should be done peacefully. You can't get anymore peaceful than taking a knee on the sidelines...and look at the reaction that brought.

Full text of Trump's Tweet:

"These THUGS are dishonoring the memory of George Floyd, and I won't let that happen. Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way. Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Thank you!"

Wow....

I'm sorry but we will have to disagree on "understandable".  Violence begets violence.   It detracts from their mission, assuming that their mission is to stop police violence against people of color.  Creating an environment of fear does not make it easier for people to support one's cause- including the police.

The second we start making excuses is the second we normalize behaviors.  This what Trumplodytes do.  We have to be better than that.

EDIT- Look at the post above this one... It gives people like Trump the excuse to use words like "thugs" and to call in the military to "squash rebellion".

There are always people who's only "mission" is to take advantage of situations to enrich themselves. Those who are looting stores don't care about the "cause"...they care about getting a new flat screen TV.

BTW, in the videos I saw there were plenty of white people carrying stuff off.

I would be interested in hearing from Klobuchar on the matter related to Floyd.  So far she has been silent.  Her relationship with African Americans in Minn is far from favorable. Her selection of being Biden's running mate might hinge on how she handles this scenario...comments with fairness and competency to calm down the fire as she navigates this landmine would go a long way toward acceptability.

"Violence begets violence."

Of course it does. And it's sad that Black communities around the country see the disruptive behaviors as the only way to force change.  And that is our fault...as national White community members who have allowed these injustices to continue.  It's easy for us to condemn their behaviors, but we do not insist on the elimination of institutional racism.  We reap what we sow...

Police departments around the country are gonna have to get serious about purging the racist officers and chiefs from their ranks.  And nobody can tell me that people within those departments don't know who those racists are.
