Yankees: Latest roster move will convince fans Brian Cashman is trolling them

The Yankees have made a signing we can’t even believe is real. Welcome back to the Bronx, Luis Avilan?!

The Yankees have no bats, no gloves, no arm, no jobs, and no hope thanks to no Cash, aka a no-show from our general manager at the deadline.

Things are pretty damned bad in Yankee Land right now, and the team’s latest roster move, announced during the team’s sleepy-as-hell loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday afternoon, feels like a full-on troll job at this point.

You want reinforcements, Yankees fans? You want somebody electric walking through that door?

Welcome … Luis Avilan! The last time we saw him, he was blowing a game to the Rays after falling off the mound in warmups. That’s the good stuff!

The last time we saw Avilan, he was hogging far too large a percentage of high-leverage innings for the Yankees, outperforming his peripherals with a 4.32 ERA in 8.1 innings pitched.

He hit the IL with left shoulder inflammation at the exact same time Gleyber Torres did with dual strains, and found himself released by the organization when the team was forced to make a Jordy Mercer move.

We assumed that was the end of it. After all, who wants a soft-tossing lefty who never misses bats and simply must adhere to the three-batter minimum in 2020, of all years? The Yankees deemed him expendable a week ago, then cycled through some pretty intriguing prospect arms in Miguel Yajure and Clarke Schmidt.

Now, during the dullest loss of the season, Avilan is back? Just like that?!

As a double troll, it’s worth noting that Avilan can’t hit a lick, either. He’ll fit right in.

Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and Gio Urshela are gone. Luke Voit’s slumping. Mike Ford and Mike Tauchman are wandering around the interstate. DJ LeMahieu and Gleyber Torres are getting routine rest.

At least Luis Avilan’s not walking through that door! Well, think again.

2020 just keeps snowballing into more powerful versions of our worst nightmare, and it’s hard to tell if Brian Cashman is crying or laughing at us.

I like Luis Aviilan.  First of all, he's a lefty.  Second of all, I don't think he's that much of a liability.  Since, I'm not sure if the Yankees can move him, up and down, which I don't think they can, they can just release him.  I think that he can be as effective as Ottavino or Green.  We will just have to wait and see.

But Green & Ottavino have not been effective. Every facet of this team failed.
