Higgy might become Coles personal catcher. He will not become the Yankees starting catcher. Great game last night but it was one game last night.

Sounds about right... Boone said in the post-game, both Sanchez and Higgy will play. Hopefully a little competition will get Sanchez going.

Like I pointed out in another post New, with Judge and Stanton back you can hide Sanchez in the 8 hole and he will do no damage there, or at least not as much as when he hits higher up. However now that you see what Higgy can do, and maybe even better with more AB's, it is what we lose with HIM NOT PLAYING that can hurt at times. We will have to see what plays out. I would hope they start Higgy tonight catching again. If he is hot and on a tear let him go! If not then what did it hurt he is batting 9th!

you miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

Higgy is a 30 year old career minor league backup that couldn't beat out Romine. He is a Yankee and I want him to do well but last week many were screaming for the other catcher (forget his name) to get playing time. Too reactionary with tiny samples. Sanchez will be the catcher for this year.

same old story. The fans favorite player is always the backup quarterback.

Verry true newinn, Higgy had himself one hell of a great game, and you have to be happy for him.  Yes Sanchez is batting in the 160's this season, but remember Higgy has been a life time 160's hitter, and as you said a minor league player. So let's not anoint him, as the next Yogi Berea.

Yankees do need to get themselves a real dam good number 1 catcher going forward, but Sanchez will have that job for now. But he needs to be alot bettter. He still is not that great defensively. His bat kept him as number 1 behind the plate, but his over all game has become a big ?

OK, I know you like time on the job so....I ask you, forget the 30 year old minor leaguer part of Higgy for a minute. You have seen Sanchez since what 2016 on and off or 2017 I'm not sure but it's been awhile. Whatever it is a long enough time to see what he is. You want him playing tonight, or Higgy??  I for one didn't say I want the Yankees to give Higgy a long contract, I am fine with him as a back up. Who do you want back there tonight, and next year should they take a look to see what catcher they can get? BTW, I find it curious the Yankees did sign another catcher today. Don't have the particulars yet though.

So you're not making long range plans for his HOF induction?Laughing

Just want to make it clear that this original thread was for Higgy to start while he is HOT. I think that;s a reasonable idea for him to start a hot Higgy and sit Sancez at .134 who last night went 1 for 5 with a weak single on a late swing to the opposite field with 2 outs and 0 RBI's. Also I didn't read anywhere that anyone on here disagreed that Higgy should get some starts over Gary to see what he can do while Gary is in the weeds trying to hack his way out. You want him to start over Gary tonight don't you?

I want Sanchez behind the plate tonight. Cantell you about next year because I don't know who they can get. You wanted to bench Didi for the playoffs last year because he went in cold. Sorry, you don't run baseball teams that way.

I don't get this runnong the team on a day to day basis. Based on last night Judge should be sitting, Frazier in right and Andujar in left. You just don't manage teams that way.
