Really? Think Merrick Garland

His tune has changed, telling the press that he would move to fill a Supreme Court vacancy if it happened this year. Trump is expected to put forward a nominee quickly.

Here's a crucial election....

The Arizona Senate race has taken on new importance after the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg: If Democrat Mark Kelly wins, he could be sworn in to replace Sen. Martha McSally as early as Nov. 30 — possibly in time to vote on a new Supreme Court nominee. t.co/YgBO1x7BPR

The warmth had not even left the body of Ruth Bader Ginsburg before the man who denied Barack Obama's selected replacement for Antonin Scalia declared there would be a quick vote now to confirm Trump's pick.  Scalia died in mid-February, nearly nine months before the 2012 election, but in McConnell's twisted, hypocritical rationale that was "too close" to the election to allow the Black Man in the White House to make a pick.  The videos of Mitch's two announcements need to be played back-to-back in ads from here to election day...and beyond if necessary.

Another pick sure to be on that list is Amy Coney Barrett, a Laura Ingraham clone, who is a favorite of the Religious Right.

Stopping McConnell on this issue is crucial.  He should be held to his 2012 position by members of his own party.  We'll see how much opposition he gets from Senate Republicans.

If Republicans push this pick through the Senate at this late date, Biden should be prepared to increase the number of justices on the Supreme Court in retaliation after he takes office.  Taking control of the Senate and keeping the House in Dem hands is going to be necessary to get this country back on track to remaining a democracy.
