He's 33 but his arm seems to be 39. Minor league contract, though.

Are you kidding? Anyone who's even glanced at Chacin in the last 3 years...

Finally, it’s possible that the workload of a long MLB career has caught up with Chacin. He’s only 31 years old but has been a full time starting pitcher nearly every season since he was 22 in 2010. He’s logged over 1300 innings and gotten a lot of mileage out of his slider, a pitch traditionally viewed as damaging to a pitcher’s long term health (although Driveline Baseball’s findings have contradicted that viewpoint). It certainly seems possible that Chacin’s arm simply isn’t as effective as it once was after the strain of over 20000 MLB pitches.

He could replicate what Freddy Garcia gave us in 2011.

Yeah right . More like 2012 if we were lucky. The last thing we need is another 4/5 inning pitcher in the rotation. Other than Cole is there anyone capable of giving us more than 5 innings? Don't think so. Well we can always carry 10 arms in the bullpen!!

Trying to stay positive.   Who knows, maybe he has a little of the good Yankee Freddy in him?

It's a minor league deal so no harm in seeing what he's got.

Meanwhile DJLM sits and waits. Yankees making some moves that cost money, no matter how cheap, over the past month,  on trinkets and hopes and dreams that they found something that may pay off, when that money could have gone towards reducing what it takes to get real Baseball player that we actually need badly right now. Me thinks Cashman has gone up and down the side of too many buildings. How about leaving all that to Spiderman and get some real work done Brian. Wink

There is only one FA that I care about and that's DJ. That's the one the Yankees should be caring about also.
