Looks like it's just some random guy throwing out an idea, no deal has been made.

That might be fairly close to what it would take, I would bet the Cubs would be interested in Schmidt especially.   But no idea if Hendricks is someone they are shopping.

I'd rather give up Garcia than Schmidt. I think Schmidt is going to be good.

I agree. In my opinion Schmidt is going to be the better pitcher of the two.

make it happen. hendricks would be a good fit. a dependable #3 type. reasonably priced with 3 yrs of control. good replacement for tanaka.

At this point in their careers Hendricks might be an upgrade from Tanaka. The Yankees would be giving up some talented prospects, but it sounds like a fair trade. But I haven't read anything about that trade being made.

I have not seen this anywhere. I'd also prefer trading Garcia over Schmidt.

Hendricks is due $14m in '21, '22, and '23, with a $16m vesting option for '24, or a $1.5m buyout. With all the payroll hand-wringing by the Yankees, I seriously doubt they will take on the $14m for '21, let alone the additional years, with the DJLM situation unresolved.
