It's official.. middle- distance runner Caster Semenya can return to compete in the World Junior Championships in early August 2010, after an 11-month dispute over the runner's gender.
Questions had been raised about the gender of Semenya, 19, after 'her' victory at the 2009 World Championships, running the 800 meter dash in 1:56.72 a national and championship record that warranted a gold medal.
Early today, tHe IAAF confirmed that the gender ban had been lifted, but refused to disclose any details concerning the case. Without a doubt Semenya is a remarkable runner, but was the gender ban justified? Do you feel that the IAAF made the right decision lifting the ban? More importantly is she a SHE?
You decide… Leave me your comments!
