Eduardo Nunez.jpg       Chances are no; but I'll tell you who he is.  He is Eduardo Nunez, a rookie who only came up in that game when the Yankees blew out the Detroit Tigers.  He came in and played shortstop for Derek Jeter in the 7th inning since manager Joe Girardi decided to give the 36 year old a break.
      Nunez had an RBI single in the seventh inning of yesterday's affair between the Yankees and Mariners, making the score 5-4; which was also his first ever Major League hit.  This was only one of the 10 hits the Yankees had yesterday, with only 2 of them being extra-base hits.

      Well, maybe we should've expected this, going against a pitcher we never faced before, what else to expect but a shutout by the pitcher.  And then Valverde comes in, whadya know?  We score a run and have the bases loaded with Jeet up.  Then this happens.Yanks lose to tigers 3-1.jpg       I know, it looks promising, but not even the speedy combo of Gardner and Jeter can stop a double play.  Max Scherzer, the Tigers pitcher who kept the Yankees to two hits through 6 innings with 6 strikeouts, was "dominant."  He has been good for the Tigers lately, look at his last 5 starts.  Pretty good, if I do say so myself; but let's focus on Javier Vasquez's start.
