It's game six and the game is currently in progress. The Yankees are going for their 40th American League Pennant, by far the most for any organization in the history of baseball. In fact, before I'd like to share that list with you:
Yankees 39
Dodgers 18
Cardinals 17
Giants 17
Athletics 14
That's a pretty telling stat. I mean if you think about it the Yankees have 26 World Championships and next up on that list is the Cardinals who have won the Fall Classic 10 times. Geez, the Red Sox didn't win one for 86 years and are still third on the list with seven championships.
Another couple of stats before I go any further. Did you know if Andy Pettitte wins tonight, he will not only be the all-time victories leader in postseason history with 16, but his five series clinching victories will also stand alone all-time.
If you think that's impressive, with Alex Rodriguez's single in the first inning, he now has 11 game postseason hitting streak.
I'll keep coming back all night with some stats or interesting nuggets from the game. Keep it here with Meet at the Bat or go to Jon Lane's Life in the Fast Lane live blog.
I'll be back with more.
