Yankees needs to WAKE UP!!!

    Saturday, May 14, 2011, 10:08 PM [General]

I know teams in any sport struggle at some point in a season. The New York Yankees needs to wake up. The offense needs to wake up especially in runners in scoring position. The pitching has been ok, but it can do better. The Yankees are lucky their still above .500 and are only 2 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays. I guess its better to struggle early in the season than mid-season or late in the season.

    New York Yankees 3-2

New York Yankees 10- Tampa Bay Rays 0

There was really nothing you can say about this game except for C.C. Sabathia and defense. C.C. Sabathia flirted with a no hitter into the 8th inning. He went 7 2/3 innings of no hit ball until Kelly Shoppach hit a line drive to left. Great job by C.C. Sabathia, he was in control the whole time. Sabathia also had help from his defense. Mark Teixeria with a diving catch. Alex Rodriguez with numerous plays by diving, jumping, long throws, etc.

Mark Teixeria finally came through with 3 hits. Wow!!!

Who cares about the offense today. It was all about C.C. Sabathia.

Some way to kick off the 15th season of MLB on FOX with a flirted no hitter and some great defensive play. Who cares how long a baseball game goes as long as the game has some dramatic exciting plays.

New York Yankees 3 Tampa Bay Rays 9- Last Night Game

I'll make this nice and short.

Javier Vazquez awful start in his second stint as a Yankee. Offense shut down by David Price.

In my opionion, Javier Vazquez will have a decent season and will prove he can pitch in the American League with pressure.

See told you its nice and short. Nothing really good to say about that game.

    New York Yankees 2-1

    Thursday, April 8, 2010, 12:42 AM [General]

    Yankees 3 Red Sox 1

Yankees take 2 out of 3 at Fenway Park. Pitching dominated this series finale. Andy Pettite pitched 6 great innings in his first start of 2010. Pettite gave up only one run. Nothing more you can say about that.

Chan Ho Park redeemed himself with 3 shutout innings in relief. Great job by Park especially against the Red Sox which is not an easy thing to do in relief.

Nick Swisher finally the Yankees on board with a game tying single in the 7th inning. Good heads up for Jorge Posada to go back to the plate and touch it after he missed it to avoid a tag from Victor Martinez in which he never caught the ball.

Curtis Granderson welcome to the Yankees. Granderson with a huge solo shot in the 10th inning to give the Yankees the lead. His next true test is Yankee Stadium.

Mark Teixeria added an RBI to the lead, but still no hits. He'll turn it around very soon.

Next up is Javier Vazquez against Tampa Bay Rays. Hopefully he'll  have a better stint with Yankees than that dreadful 2004 year. This time around everyone knows he can be a dominating pitcher. I still don't like the trade to give up Melky Cabrera for Javier Vazquez. Melky Cabrera was the best as a Yankee, hopefully he will back soon.

    New York Yankees 1-1

New York Yankees 6- Boston Red Sox 4

Everyone by now should know that there is no easy win when it comes the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry. This game was no easy win for the Yankees. It took an 8th inning baseloaded walk by Nick Johnson to take the lead for good and Robinson Cano 9th inning solo home run gave the Yankees insurance. It was sloppy game defensively with 3 errors, but a win is a win. The big error that hurt was Marco Scutaro error in the 8th inning which would've ended the inning with the game still tied, but no give the Yankees an extra out and they will take advantage which they did. In the 9th inning, Mariano Rivera seal the win with a save like usual.

A.J. Burnett first start of the season was ok. He allowed 3 runs in 5 innings. He walked only one and struck out five, but he threw a lot of pitches. Only batter that hurt him the most was Victor Martinez. This was good start between Burnett and Posada. As the season progresses, I see it getting better. If it doesn't, well, Fransisco Cervilli is there waiting. Well, then again any pitcher for the Yankees works well with Cervilli because they like his attitude and the way he calls a game.

Joba Chamberlain with 2 big outs in his 8th inning relief work. This is the Joba the Yankees want as the 8th inning set up man. He just dominated Adrian Beltre and J.D. Drew by striking out both of them. Joba needs to keep that up to have that role for the season.

How many wins can Alfredo Aceves take away from starters? Aceves always does his job with long relief work. 2 innings of work and allow no hits.

Robinson Cano can really do some damage in that 5 spot if he keeps hitting the way he does in the first two games. 2 RBIs in the game with home run. Cano is too good of hitter to be in the bottom of the order.

Mark Teixeria off to his usual slow start with no hits, but did have an RBI. Don't be surprise and he'll get things going soon. No worries.

    Yankees lose Opening Night

    Monday, April 5, 2010, 12:17 AM [General]

Going into the season, the one thing I sense that wasn't good about the Yankees was the bullpen. It has already shown. The Yankees bullpen really struggled tonight blowing the lead.

C.C. Sabathia had good start up until the 6th inning, but this typical C.C. Sabathia. Sabathia is terrible in April, but gets very hot after that.

I never liked the acquistion of Chan Ho Park. He'll have to prove it to me because I always thought if you were a N.L. pitcher from the bullpen, you will struggle in the A.L. Park had a bad start. Remember the team you have now won't be the same at the end especially the bullpen. If there are Yankee pitchers that I think will succeed in the bullpen and be the trustworthy person for Giaradi are Dave Robertson, Alfredo Aceves, Damaso Marte, and Joba Chamberlain. Although these pitchers need to shake off there cobwebs. Not a good start especially blowing a lead.

Offense should not be a question throughout the season like tonight. Everyone needs to watch out for Brett Gardner because if he can start most of the games and get on base, good things will happen.

First game unsuccessful, but still a LONG season to play. Take a rest and rebound the next game.

Tragedy In Vancouver Olympics 2010 and What Needs to be Done.

    Friday, February 12, 2010, 7:54 PM [General]

Winter Olympics 2010 starts off with a tragedy, Georgian Luge Olympian Nodar Kumaritashvili died in a practice session. Now looking at the video on NBC, it looks he died when he flew off the track and took the impact onto the steel structure. It is so dumb that nobody ever thought of the idea to put large paddings outside the track to protect the athletes. The only thing that protects the lugers and bobsledders are their helmets.

Luge and bobsledding made be a boring sport to some like me, but I always knew it was a danger sport because of the idea of what would happen if an accident occur the athletes flew off the track. I've seen tv shows make fun of the sport because of how silly it is, well they better rethink that because its fast and dangerous.

One sport that made a major change is NASCAR. The change that was made was in all tracks, they put foam like padding on walls so if a driver crashes into the wall then foam structure would soften the impact. Another change is inside the car. With the death of Dale Earnheardt, NASCAR put a cushion around the top of driver seat, so if they crash then the drivers head won't jerk off from side to side with force. This saves a lot of concussion even deaths.

What to look forward now that NFL season is over?

    Monday, February 8, 2010, 5:19 PM [General]

Well, Super Bowl XLIV is over which is the end of the season. What to look forward now in sports?

MLB season won't start for another 2 and a half months.

Who cares about the PGA Tour and the PGA Major Tournaments with Tiger Woods gone. I surely don't care. Will Tiger ever came back as a dominant golfer? Breaking the most major titles won will tough or impossible now.

Nothing interesting in Tennis world. The Austrialian Open just ended with Roger Federer winning his 16th Grand Slam. Its going to keep rising. I think he'll have close to 30 Grand Slams at the end of his career. We have to wait until May for another exciting action in Tennis. The French Open, I'm referring to.

My fourth favorite sport to watch is Nascar. There is something to look forward and that is Valentine's Day weekend. On Saturday, there is Nascar Nationwide Series race at Daytona on ESPN, but its not any race, no sir. It is the Nascar Debut of Danica Patrick. (She is HOT!!!) On Sunday, the Sprint Cup Series starts, and the Super Bowl of racing, the Daytona 500 on FOX.

Also on Valentine's Day weekend is Winter Olympics in Vancouver start. Nothing interesting to watch there except for USA Men's hockey and curling. That's right I said it curling. Such a fascinating sport.

The NBA All Star Weekend is also on Valentine's Day weekend.  Now that should be the best weekend out of all the sports. No need for describing that weekend. It is always an exciting weekend.

NASCAR, Winter Olympics, and NBA All Star Weekend are the only exciting things to watch right after the Super Bowl.

I'm certainly excited. Lets Go Danica Patrick.

My Favorite Super Bowl XLIV Commercials

    Monday, February 8, 2010, 1:01 AM [General]

My favorite Super Bowl XLIV commercial are

    1. "The House of Beer" where the house is made out of bud light beer cans and bottles that are not empty. That is awesome.

    2. "Playing Nice" The Doritos commercial with the little kid telling his mom boyfriend not to mess with her mama and his doritos. That was hilarious.

    3. "Calf Growing Up" Budweisser commercial where the horse and calf grew up together. The calf couldn't get pass the fence until 3 years later, it was older and ran pass the fence. I thought that was pretty cool.

    4. "Brett Farve" It's the Hyundai car commercial. Its year 2020 and Brett Farve is still playing. He is 2020 MVP and thinking about retiring then again maybe not.

This commercials are in no particular order. What's you're favorite Super Bowl XLIV commercial? Feel free to respond.

Super Bowl 44 and Final Thoughts

    Sunday, February 7, 2010, 10:13 PM [General]

Congratulations to the New Orleans Saints. They are Super Bowl 44 Champions. They deserve it and the city. The Saints were really aggressive in the 2nd half. Great win for them.

As a Giants fan, Mr. Jeremy Shockey, you ran your mouth when you left the Giants, so return the Super Bowl ring that you got from the Giants. You got your own now.

Dree Brees Super Bowl MVP, well deserve. Brees made one more play and one less mistake (none) than Peyton Manning. With Brees winning the Super Bowl of a insult to injury to the Miami Dolphins who passed on him and to the San Diego Chargers for not wanting him back because it was time for Phillip Rivers. Well Chargers, you may be a great team, but for some reason Phillip Rivers always makes the big mistake and Nate Kaeding can't make field goals.

Peyton Manning, if he won the Super Bowl, he may have been the greatest Quarterback in NFL history, but not to be. Maybe next year. Colts stop blitzing in the 2nd half which made them look like they play soft coverage. I think they should've went on 4th and 11 instead of a Stover field goal. Stover doesn't have a strong leg.

I think the Super Bowl 44 on CBS will get the highest rated Super Bowl in history. However, the CBS lucked out because while it was a nailbiter for almost 4 quarters (keyword almost), it wasn't a nailbiter when the Saints made the pick 6 for the touchdown to go up 2 scores. Super Bowl 42 on FOX and Super Bowl 43 on NBC was a nailbiter to the very end. Game winning touchdowns in 42 and 43 were on the last possessions of the winning team and needed a defensive stop. I think people were on the edge of their couches when watching the games. Super Bowl 44 on CBS, people were not on the edge a little over 3 minutes left. With all that Super Bowl 44 on CBS was still awesome.

We will see the Super Bowl 45 on FOX in Dallas.

Yankees Offseason Moves in Question Maybe

    Friday, January 1, 2010, 1:12 PM [General]

I don't know about my fellow Yankee fans, but I do question the moves the Yankee organization has made and not made.

Getting Curtis Granderson was a great aquistion, but I question the move to give up Austin Jackson, Yankees top hitting prospect, to get Granderson. Sure, Granderson is a good player, but as I recall, the Yankee organization said they were going to rely on their top prospects a lot more and be part of the team not be part of a trade.

Getting Javier Vasquez for Melky Cabrera. I think Vasquez is a good pitcher, but a good pitcher for the National League with the expection when he was in a White Sox uniform. Melky Cabrera gone is a killer. You basically kill the youthness of the Yankees. Melky Cabrera came up with a lot of clutch hits. I thought the Yankees would improve on outfield defense since it was weak point in 2009 season. The corner outfield has really no arm except Cabrera. With Granderson, the defense was better. Granderson at center field, Swisher at right field, and Cabrera in left field. With Cabrera gone, the outfield is weak again.

Signing Nick Johnson to play DH. Why not re-sign Hideki Matsui to do that? That is all I got to say.

Ching Ming Wang deserves another chance. A Former two time 19 game winner is still a good pitcher. They need to help him regain his confidence and his mechanics. An major injury that affects the way he pitches will do that to any pitcher. You can't expect any pitcher to just regain his form magically. You need patience and guidence.

The Yankees still need a decent left fielder who can hit and has a decent arm. They need 8th inning pitcher to get to Mariano Rivera. I say David Robertson. Maybe?

Overall, Starting Pitcher has become a STRONG suit for the Yankees. Outfield Defense, weak like last year. Yankees top prospects, who knows now. Speed, possibly gone down with Nick Johnson. Hitting, gone down maybe with Granderson??

I give the Yankees current offseason moves a "C" because they got good players, but gave up a lot to the fans eyes including me. It looks like they downgraded just a little.

Feel free to give your opinion. This is how I feel.
