Yankees Champions for 27th Time

    Thursday, November 5, 2009, 3:58 PM [General]

We started this decade with the New York Yankees as World Series Champions in 2000. We end this decade in 2009 with the New York Yankees as World Series Champions.

What a game. With all the speculation that using 3 pitchers on 3 days rest could cost them, but in end it resulted in World Series title.

Andy Pettite on 3 days rest pitched great. He didn't over do it and pitched smartly. He earned his 18th career postseason win. He won all 3 clinching series games. Simply Amazing.

Yankees offense was really Hideki Matsui. He went 8 for 13 in the World Series. He had 6 RBIs in the clinching game, unbelievable. He went to be the World Series MVP. The first time Japan born player ever won it.

Mariano Rivera shuts down the Phillies for the final 5 outs. How fitting a new stadium, Andy Pettite started and Mariano Rivera ends it.

Core Four- Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Andy Pettite, Jorge Posada all with 5 World Series Rings.

Oh Yeah, Alex Rodriguez finally gets a World Series ring and what a postseason he had. Simply rejuvenated and clutch hitting.

PHILLIES DETHRONE and are NOW FORMER WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS!!!

THE NEW YORK YANKEES ARE YOUR WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS for the 27th TIME!!! YEAH!!! YANKEES ARE THE BEST!!!

Late Rally for Yankees Not Enough to Clinch

    Monday, November 2, 2009, 11:47 PM [General]

A.J. Burnett was just awful tonight giving up 6 runs. Not much to say on a short night for him.

Cliff Lee was effective. He was just like C.C. Sabathia in game 4 where he was effective not dominanting to put his team in position to win the game. Although Lee did give up 5 runs.

Phil Coke 7th inning home runs killed the Yankees because they got 6 runs, but Coke home runs to give the Phillies 6 to 8 runs hurt alot. Phil Coke continue the trend of infectiveness in postseason. Simple thing he had to do is get outs because they were down big already.

Phil Hughes nice outing, but not sure if that will give the Yankees trust to use him with the Yankees having the lead.

Phillies has confidence, but being that they almost blew the game away certainly changed it from lots of confidence to a little confidence. Bullpen is still struggling for Phillies.

Back to the Bronx where the Yankees can clinch at home with Andy Pettite going against Pedro Martinez. I predict the Yankees will the series 6 games before the World Series started. They did their job in evening the series at home, take back home field on the road, steal a game on the road.

I think the Yankees will win it 6 games because I think Pedro Martinez may struggle a little. Andy Pettite is great at clinching the series and he'll have the opportunity to do so.

No Need To Panic Yankee Fans. Yankees still up 3-2. LETS GO YANKEES!!! BACK TO THE BRONX!!!

YANKEES ONE WIN AWAY FROM 27th

    Monday, November 2, 2009, 12:43 AM [General]

What started out as a bad start to the day for New York fans when the New York Giants got killed by the Philadelphia Eagles (BOO!!!) turn out to be a great day because The New York Yankees are one win away from winning the World Series.

C.C. Sabathia was ok in his outing, but has problems go against the Phillies. I think he throws way to many pitches to phillies hitters and he can't figure out Chase Utley, but Sabathia kept the Yankees in lead and could've deserved a win. If anyone would've said that the Yankees would be up 3-1 in the World Series and C.C. Sabathia would not have a win and pitched okay then I would've thought you are crazy.

I'm surprised that the Yankees offense didn't get more off of Joe Blanton. He pitched okay as well.

Joba Chamberlain certainly had good stuff in the 8th inning, but he made ONLY ONE bad pitch in the inning to Pedro Feliz for home run. Joba has certainly been impressive in the World Series. Joba was saved in the 9th inning by his offense.

Lights Out Lidge more like Lights On for Lidge to struggle again. Brad Lidge was one strike away from ending the inning instead Johnny Damon had a great at bat and singles for a base hit. Damon steals 2nd with Mark Teixeria batting and with the shift on, Damon steals 3rd easily after getting up from 2nd. Teixeria gets hit and Alex Rodriguez with another HUGE late inning hit to give the Yankees the lead. Jorge Posada gave the Yankees some important insurance runs for 7-4 lead. Mariano Rivera closed out another postseason game to give the Yankees one victory away from a 27th World Series title in franchise history.

In my opinion, the Yankees World Series MVP has been Johnny Damon, Derek Jeter, and Mariano Rivera. One those 3 will get the award, but first thing first is to get ONE MORE VICTORY!!!

For game 5, its A.J. Burnett vs Cliff Lee. Lets see if Cliff Lee is a pressure big game pitcher. Hopefully Burnett will have another dominant outing like in game 2.

LETS GO YANKEES!!! ONE MORE TO GO!!!

P.S. Jimmy Rollins you said you'll win in 5 games, 6 if you're team is nice. How about you're a BIG MOUTH and you're one Yankee victory from losing in 5 games, maybe your team will lose in 6 if the Yankees are nice enough.

Yankees Take Back HomeField on the Road in Game 3

    Sunday, November 1, 2009, 1:13 AM [General]

The rain and held up and the Yankees take back homefield on the road. The Yankees now lead in the World Series 2-1.

Pettite another win in the postseason. I believe he has 17 now. It didn't looked that way in the first two innings as he threw a lot of pitches and struggled, but after that he was great. See that is one thing about Andy Pettite that you count on is when he struggles, he will limit the damage, keep his team in the game, and grind out innings. He did all that and pitched 6 innings. Probably "greatest hitter in postseason history," he hit an RBI single which surprised me and probably everyone in the world because I thought he was going to bunt. Great night for Andy Pettite and the Yankees.

As for the Yankees offense, they exploded. Alex Rodriguez 2 run home run got the team going and he got good at bats.

I think Nick Swisher got mad when he got benched in game 2 because he had a good game with a double and a solo shot.

Hideki Matsui hit a pinch hit home run which I think now that there in a NL park got to make him mad because he not going to hit. If he pinch hits, he might as well make it a good one. Should it go back to New Yankee Stadium, I expect him to have a huge game.

The Yankees bullpen pitched great. In this postseason, I've seen that the most reliable and most trustworthy relievers are David Robertson and Damaso Marte. Joba Chamberlain is getting up there now. Funny the most trust in the regular season was Hughes and Coke. Now its completely different. Robertson and Marte are the ones that impressed me the most. Mariano Rivera, well what can you say, he is the best.

One thing I'll say about Cole Hamels, from World Series MVP to right now Postseason LVP.

MLB Fox pregame show said this was a must win for the Phillies, I thought it was the opposite because the Yankees can't leave Philly down 3-2 or down 3-1 with Cliff Lee going in game 5 and now with C.C. Sabathia going in game 4, they have a great shot going up 3-1. They had to win to game 3 and now have to win game 4. They are now in the driver seat. With Joe Blanton going for the Phillies, Yankees should have an offensive showing and I see Joe Blanton struggling.

LETS GO YANKEES!!! 2 more to go

    OH YEAH..LETS GO GIANTS!!!

Burnett and Yankees Power their way to a victory

    Friday, October 30, 2009, 4:06 PM [General]

Whose Your Daddy? The Yankees are still your daddy Pedro as they beat you once again. A.J. Burnett was magnificant, this is the A.J. Burnett the Yankees wanted that constantly beated them in the past. Burnett went 7 innings and gave up only one run. He threw a lot of 1st pitch strikes and he made Ryan Howard look silly.

Teixeria and Matsui went deep and you hope that gets them both going. Now that there is no DH, I expect Matsui to get real hot if it goes back to the Bronx for Game 6.

As for predictions I think the Yankees have to win games 3 & 4 with Pettite and Sabathia going because Cole Hamels is struggling in the playoffs and Joe Blanton, the Yankees has seen in the past and I believe the Yankees hit well against. I think the Yankees will make Hamels and Blanton throw a lot of pitches.

Alex Rodriguez got a doses of reality now because he has struggle in the 1st two games, but I do expect him to have  good games at Philly.

Hero of Game 2 is AJ Burnett backing up C.C. Sabathia after a tough night in game 1 for the Yankees.

This is a series now. LETS GO YANKEES!!!

Too Much Lee in Game 1

    Wednesday, October 28, 2009, 11:47 PM [General]

Too much Cliff Lee. The Yankees are down 0-1 in the World Series. What can you say to C.C. Sabathia, 7 innings of 2 run ball. He pitched another good outing for the Yankees, but there was no way the Yankees offense could get going with Cliff Lee throwing the way he did.

No need to panic because the next 3 games, I see the Phillies starting pitching are more vulnerable because Pedro Martinez is not the same Pedro and he's somewhat struggles against the Yankees. Cole Hammels is struggling in the postseason and Joe Blanton or J.A. Happ, Blanton or Happ for sure in my opinion would crack under pressure.

Bottom line is the Yankees got to win Game 2. At least steal one game on the road whether it be Game 3 or 4 because you assume that Cliff Lee will start Game 5.

I see the C.C. Sabathia starting Game 4 now that the Yankees are down 0-1. No way you start Chad Gaudin if the Yankees are down 0-3 or down 1-2. Slight chance Gaudin starts if Yankees go up 2-1, but those chances are slight.

Its still a long series. LETS GO YANKEES!!!

    Yankees 2009 American League Champions

    Monday, October 26, 2009, 2:07 PM [General]

Yankees are headed to the World Series as your American League Champions. This game to me had such a different vibe for me in which I felt that I knew the Angels weren't going to get the BIG Hit and I also felt that the Yankees were one big hit from making the game a blow out. The Yankees got just enough to win the game and American League Pennant.

How does that quote go again.."What goes around, comes around." Errors cost the Angels games 1 and 2, and errors comes back to haunt the Angels in game 6. Howie Kendrick can't catch an easy throw to 1st and Scot Kazmir doesn't know how to lob a ball to first base. Wasn't Scot Kazmir suppose to be the "Red Sox and Yankee Killer." Go Figure!!!

C.C. Sabathia is your ALCS MVP. Well deserved.

Pettite yet again a job well done in postseason play winning his record 16th win. You can tell he changed his approach from his game 3 start and the Angels just couldn't get that big hit off Pettite.

Rivera another 6 out save in postseason whats new with that. One pitch his entire career. THE CUTTER and nobody can get a solid hit off him.

I told you in my last blog that Saunders would crack under pressure and he did. It seem to me that Angels kept on talking about John Lackey Game 7 start and not Saunders start for Game 6. What game 7, there is no ALCS game 7 for 2009. I read the articles and the tv media, and thats what I heard most from the Angels. Lackey Lackey Lackey. The Angels sure lacked in game 6.

World Series Prediction. I'm going to say the Yankees are going to win it 6 games. Funny how in the middle of this series that the New York Football Giants are going to play at the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday with the Yankees visiting the Phillies for Game 4 on that night.

LETS GO YANKEES!!! LETS GO GIANTS!!!

Game 5 Does Not Go Yankees Way

    Friday, October 23, 2009, 12:05 AM [General]

Well it was good game, but it didn't go the Yankees way. I'm going to straight to the point with I hear most people are saying already about not taking out Burnett earlier. I have to agree with Girardi move, Burnett had a low pitch count and he could've pitched a lot longer. As for Burnett, in the 1st inning I think he got little ahead of himself and not executing his pitches. As for the bullpen, in Hughes and Chamberlain, they need to relax. They probably thought it was over, but you still have make the pitches and you play 27 outs. Hughes definitely struggled and Chamberlain still doesn't look like the old Joba in the bullpen in this postseason.

Teixeria, Matsui, Cano all had big hits with runners in scoring position and you hope that gets them going.

Swisher still needs to get hits, that swing he took for the final out looked more like a HR cut when he should've tried to foul it off and just get a hit. He had good at bat against Fuentes, but the pop out made looked bad.

It close to ending the ALCS, but I also said this wasn't going to be an easy series for the Yankees to win. My prediction in this series was the Yankees in 6.

Andy Pettite goes for the Yankees in Game 6 which I have great confidence in because he knows the situation to clinching and he's pitched big time games in postseason. He gets to do it back home at the stadium. As for Pettite pitching adversary, Joe Saunders, I think he'll pitch ok, but he'll crack under pressure at some point in his work.

Remember my fellow Yankee Fans..Yankees still up 3-2 and I know Yankees will win the series.

    LETS GO YANKEES!!!

No Need for Extras..Yankees Dominate in Game 4

    Wednesday, October 21, 2009, 12:36 AM [General]

What a dominating performance by C.C. Sabathia and the New York Yankees. Was there any doubt with CC on the mound..NO!!! Alex Rodriguez continues to be a monster with the bat. I'll say one thing about C.C and A-Rod, the past is the past, the present is now and they are dominating no matter who is up at bat and who is pitching.

Who says the Yankees can't hit in runners in scoring position. The team came up huge. Melky Cabrera 4 RBIs and Damon with a 2 run HR. Basically the team got the hits when it counted the most, moving up runners, and getting the runs in.

The Yankee hitters that were struggling got it going. Melky, Cano, Damon, Posada, Swisher had some nice at bats, and you hope that Teixeria hit gets him going.

I told you in last blog that CC Sabathia was going to have a nice game and he did, but I also said that Scott Kazmir was going to struggle under the pressure and he did. The suppose "Yankee and Red Sox killer," was a dump in postseason. With the Rays in postseason, no expectations, but now with the Angels, lots of expectation and he cracked under pressure. C.C. Sabathia on 3 days rest was different than last years because he had extra days off in the regular season which kept him fresh. 3 days or 5,6,7 days off..he was unbelievable. No questioning Joe Girardi managerial decision in Game 4.

Now lets get down to the umpires. Three blown calls. They missed a call with Swisher at 2nd base. He should've been out, but thats understandable because those close blown calls happen all the time in the season. Swisher tag up at 3rd was clearly blown. Crew Chief Tim McClelland doesn't look like he was looking at Swisher tag up. Good thing that run didn't cost the Yankees. The double play blown call was awful and by the way CANO WHAT WERE YOU THINKING..YOU TOLD POSADA TO RUN DOWN and  YOU DON'T TOUCH 3rd and WATCH!!!

With that note, I don't think there should be instant replay because its judgement call like the Swisher at 2nd base and you can't have every close play be reviewed. It prolong the game even longer. No matter how close or how big the blown call is, baseball cannot have technology call the game because this sport is a judgement called game.

That is my review. LETS GO YANKEES!!! One more from the pennant. 5 more wins to go. AJ Burnett vs John Lackey in Game 5.

One more note..Every Yankee in the active roster has now played in the postseason. Chad Gaudin pitched the 9th inning. Good for you Chad.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE VOICE OF GOD, Bob Sheppard

Interesting Move By Joe in ALCS Game 3

    Monday, October 19, 2009, 8:56 PM [General]

An interesting move by Joe Girardi, as he takes out David Robertson for Alfredo Aceves. I don't like the move and I'm sure my other fellow Yankee fans don't like it. In my opinion, you let Robertson pitch the rest of the inning. The next inning you can bring Aceves and it cost dearly. Robertson has electric stuff and Aceves has soft stuff. What made even odd was that no one was on base. I think Girardi was potecting Robertson because he was hurt before. Bad time to be protective.

Yankees needs to hit runners in scoring position better.

I think C.C. Sabathia is going to have another good game. I don't see Kazmir pitching that well because he is a so called "Red Sox and Yankee killer." He hasn't looked good against the Red Sox in ALDS game 3 and I don't expect him to have another good game. Too much pressure on Kazmir now.

Yankees are still up 2-1 with C.C. Sabathia going in Game 4. Remember folks, Yankees are guarantee a game 6. Angels cannot clinch in Anahiem or LA..whatever you want to call it. Nobody said this was going to be an easy series for the Yankees. Its been a grind your teeth games so far.

    My ALCS Game 2 Review

    Sunday, October 18, 2009, 3:01 PM [General]

What a game 2 that was. It was such an unbelievable game and it was only fitting that the Yankees continue there walk off magic. The theme for the Angels is "speed kills", well errors can kill you and that is the theme for the Angels in the 1st two games. The Yankees bullpen was amazing and saving the Yankees errors. Alex Rodriguez is a new man in the postseason another game tying home run, this time in extra innings down by a run. The Yankees needed to win the 1st two games at home because now they enter a tough environment in Anahiem. They ensure themselves a game 6 at home and no clinching for the Angels at home. Although, the way the Yankees pitching as been great, they might not need six games.
