The front end of the rotation is weak, and that problem must be addressed if we hope to win a championship next year.

I actually am pretty confident in Pavano and Johnson having solid but not spectacular years (in the 10-12 win/ 3.8-4.5 ERA range). Wang and Mussina should produce decent numbers, and I also feel Igawa will be a suprise next year, I think he can at least get 15 wins with a 3.80 ERA, 200 IP, and 150 Ks. (i am a tiny bit biased). In all fairness though, our offense makes up for our average rotation. If we could land a decent top of the line starter, it would greatly improve our team. I can see the yankees going for someone like Hudson, Buehrle, and in a blue moon Willis. Either way, we have a team that will contend in our division thanks to the amazing offense and above average bullpen.

Mussina is more likely to pitch to his ERA during 2004-2005 than he is
to pitch the ERA he pitched last year in his contract option year. The
guy is older and is anually visiting the DL.

ERA Projections for next year

Wang- 3.60 ERA Closest thing to a lock

Mussina- 4.30+ERA (See above)

Randy- 4.80+ERA (Coming off back surgery and is a year older, he isn't going go get better)

Igawa- 4.50+ ERA ..... Beckett has better stuff and he got lit up. I might be projecting optimistictly with that ERA.

Pavano- 5.00 ERA... The guy has a 4.00+ Career ERA in the NL, he hasn't
pitched in two years, fans hate him, teammates don't believe in him,
and he will be pitching in one of toughest divisions in baseball.

Front end needs a starter who puts up an ERA under 4, wins at least 16 games, and can duel against good #2 pitchers in the AL.

That's interesting; I feel they need more threads pointing out what they need.

Many, many more threads.

BTW, this is my first post on the new boards. Is it sarcastic enough, or too sarcastic?

with having moose back and Wang, all we need is for Randy Johnson to get well and have a good re-hab. However, he might not be ready for the begging of the season. I can't belive this after 2071 posts on the old boards I'm starting all over again. This having to reregister stinks.

It's going to be someone nobody is even thinking of. That's what Cashman does best.
