The Yankees have to be planning something big when the winter meeting start next week as far as a trade goes. They are very quiet with the free agent pitchers. After last year, expect the pitching rotation to be vastly different.

The Yankees will do what they can but honestly I rather they don't do something just for the sake of signing someone. There isn't much available and those that are just want way to long a contract and I hope the Yankees don't lock any one in foe a long time. In 2 years we will have a completly diffrent team I can't wait and the rookies can all get there chance.

They do need another starter either via trade or free agency.

We shall see what the Yanks have up their sleeves within the next few weeks.

I have to agree with you from Zito on down no one is worth signing. I still say go with the young guns and let them help us.

WIth all the good, quality prospects the Yankees have, I think a big acuasition is never out of the question.

I think right now, Roger Clemens is the best pitcher on the FA market. But Cashman always does something big and usually keeps quiet about it so I think he may have something up his sleeve. He's a very good GM and knows what to do to make the team better and I think acquiring a top of the rotation starter in a trade is definitely probable, even likely. Something will happen, whether they sign someone or make a trade but we'll get someone to fill out the rotation.

I think acquiring Clemens for a one year contract would be a bad move because he costs to much money and for that type of money I don't he can follow through.

I disagree, I think Clemens is exactly what the Yankees need (and I say this as someone who is completely tired of the guy, I wish he'd just retire already). But if he's not gonna retire, the Yankees need someone who can offer presence and high-quality performance. And they don't need any long-term commitments given what's developing on the farm. I'd be reluctant, though, if he's offered arbitration. Don't want to give up any draft picks.

The main problem I have though is I don't think he will be able to give high performances in the AL East as he did in the NL Central. Not to mention that he is 44/45, I think for that type of money there are too many risks for the rewards.
