I dont know whats worse, the new forum or the proposal to get Doug Mirabelli as the backup catcher.

Thats an interesting idea, although his average has declined. I know the sox are looking for someone better than him and so should we. I still say we should make molina an offer.

No body hit me in the head...I was just being like EVERYONE else, coming up with ideas, thoughts, you don't have to shoot me in the foot.

Mirabelli is an aging catcher whose bat has skidded under .200 as the years go by. We've had enough with backup catchers contributing zero offense. Gregg Zaun was the guy to get, but Cashman has decided to nickel & dime it where needs lie despite having the biggest payroll in baseball. It's pretty insulting to hear about "fiscal responsibility" when it comes to a backup position that needs to be filled. He had no problem shelling out $26 million just to negotiate with Igawa, who'll most likely be another foreign bust. I'll believe the payroll cutbacks mean something when ticket prices follow suit, but don't hold your breath.

This is just basically reiterating the point I made previously. He's not very good and he's only getting older and I wouldn't want to take a chance on him. We'd be better off paying more money for a Barajas or one of the 32 Molina brothers than to get an underperformer in Mirabelli.

Sad to say but true. It was looking pretty good there for a while when they were after zaun. But now who knows.Like you said posting 26 mill. for a #4 is alot, however a lefty will cost you these days!!!! Molina is still out there just like last season,so we should make a move at the winter meetings and sign this guy.We need to keep the offence strong. Bosox pitching will soon get better and there is no reason for us to make it easer for them to blow away a backup that cant hit. PAY MOLINA THE MONEY!!! Now you know and i know this wont happen and it will be anouther unproductive season at that position. Same thing at first base...however i would give wilson a second look and they seem to be doing that.

It was not so long ago that the Blow Sox traded Mirabelli. They brought him back because no one could catch Wakefield. And they still came in third. I think we look elsewhere.

That's a pretty big understatement.
