OK, ok, before the realists start in with the "this will never happen" chatter -- yes, I know this will never happen. But that's mostly because of the emnity between the Sox and Yankees.

But this is a discussion board and it seems to me that this could be an interesting exchange. What would you think of Manny for Abreu and, say, Clippard?

abreu fits this team very well, i would not want manny crying and whining every game, i would not want him dogging plays not trying and playing horrible defense

NO, I would even consider trading Manny for Abreu and a prospect. I don't care if Manny has better numbers than Abreu I want someone to play hard for me everyday and that is what Abreu gives.

Interesting. I can understand that point of view. But it's interesting that even though that's a totally valid point of view, folks on this board are thrilled at the thought of the Red Sox trading Manny, and most in the press seem to think that there's no way they can get back comparable value. If he is such a cancer/slacker/deadbeat, you'd think Yankee fans would hope the Sox would keep him, not trade him.

I hope Manny goes to an NL team. You ask because you say he is a cancer. That may be true, but look at his numbers versus the Yanks as a Sox and you would know why the Yanks want him out of Beantown.

I'd love to see him traded out of the AL East. When motivated and happy he's one of the best hitters in all of baseball but he's just too moody. Why do you think Boston has been trying to trade him for the past few years?

I don't want any of that "Manny being Manny" BS on this team.

I've been giving this one some thought. Let's see, Manny in right, or Abreu in right. MMMMMMM. Let me ponder this just a bit. Ahhhh. No.

And why would the Yankees consider trading Clippard...who is supposedly the goods...to the Red Sox?

And finally, the Theo would be burned alive at the Citgo sign if he traded Manny to the Yankees.

I know this is a discussion board and nobody should say "it will never happen." But come on. This will never happen. So really, what's to discuss?

Great. Then work out that DH issue. Which 20M Dollar man are you going to sit? Manny is a great player. But the Yankees cant use him. Trading Abreu for Manny would be an extremely stupid move for BOTH teams.

Since Abreus contract is up after this season it might be a better move.

Manny is in the top three hitters in the AL and we don't nessicary desperatley need power hitting at all, but it would be awesome to have him.

I think Damon will eventually be playing firstbase like last season and if thats the case then melky would move to center and we can DH Giambi.

if we stick with phillips at 1st and keep damon in center and have giambi at DH and melky on the bench, that'll be alright also.

think of this lineup

damon jeter arod giambi manny matsui posada cano phillips...stright up nasty.
