I can understand their POV if they are looking it like this:
Right now most of baseball is looking at the Mets franchise like a bunch of fools for how they bungled this Willie Randolph situation. From other teams to talk radio to fans, the general consensus is that Omar & The Wilpons know nothing about running a baseball team.
Thats obviously something that if you are a Met fan you are gonna get upset about because the way Met management handled this situation hurts the franchise from a public relations POV. Nobody likes to be laughed at and with The Mets already the #2 franchise in the city, I can understand why Mets fans are upset with these latest developments even if they wanted Willie gone. Its not so much that they fired the guy but how they fired him that has their fanbase upset. It really has mad the Mets franchise look like a bunch of fools which is obviously something that would upset most Mets fans.
Honestly though as a Yankees fan and someone who doesn't buy into what a lot of the "experts" say - I never thought the Mets were the team to beat in the NL east this year. They brought in a great pitcher but I had a feeling back in March that the offense was still going to be lazy and the rest of the pitching staff with their old pitchers was going to be a problems. For whatever reason The Mets don't seem to play like a team so they don't win like a team.
