tongueThe Mets must be one screwed up organization. The Gm should of been the one let go. Not Willie. They have an over the hill left fielder and a left fielder that is always hurt. They have a first baseman that every other team has given up on because he cant hit. They have an overated centerfielder. They have a pitching staff that no pitching coach could of fixed. Especially when there either hurt or on thier way out. People need to wake up. This team is playing its best and this is all your going to get no matter who is the manager. Hey General Manager Id be ashamed to blame someone else for this team that YOU put together. Come home to the Yankees Willie. You Desverve Better!!!!!!!!!

I can understand their POV if they are looking it like this:

Right now most of baseball is looking at the Mets franchise like a bunch of fools for how they bungled this Willie Randolph situation. From other teams to talk radio to fans, the general consensus is that Omar & The Wilpons know nothing about running a baseball team.

Thats obviously something that if you are a Met fan you are gonna get upset about because the way Met management handled this situation hurts the franchise from a public relations POV. Nobody likes to be laughed at and with The Mets already the #2 franchise in the city, I can understand why Mets fans are upset with these latest developments even if they wanted Willie gone. Its not so much that they fired the guy but how they fired him that has their fanbase upset. It really has mad the Mets franchise look like a bunch of fools which is obviously something that would upset most Mets fans.

Honestly though as a Yankees fan and someone who doesn't buy into what a lot of the "experts" say - I never thought the Mets were the team to beat in the NL east this year. They brought in a great pitcher but I had a feeling back in March that the offense was still going to be lazy and the rest of the pitching staff with their old pitchers was going to be a problems. For whatever reason The Mets don't seem to play like a team so they don't win like a team.

yea its like you said its the way they fired him that has met fans hanging their heads down. Like you said they are the laughing stock of baseball right now.

I'm not going to lie I did buy into the hype. I guess I gotta cut back on the sports radio talk from now on lol. But after seeing them get out the box slow and struggle I began to see the warts with the team that some like yourself saw early on.

santana - still good but no longer top notch shut down great. He'll have his moments but he is trending down not upward

delgado- last yr wasn't a blimp on the screen it was a sign offwhere he is as a player

beltran - streaky

reyes - no longer the top notch player he used to be

pedro - hurt

alou - hurt

role players - struggling

bullpen - a mess

Some ppl think they can turn it around i'm not one of them.

Im not a met fan so I really dont care, but I cant believe they could let Willie go and keep the GM. I did not think that the Mets had that good of a team. Its like the old days when the Yankees used to sign the old has beens. They have now gotten smarter and are building from within.

yup omar has turned the mets into the yankees that brought in old has beens because they had a track record. Which is fine if you win right now but the thing is when you don't win it looks really bad. Don't worry omar will be gone if this team misses the playoffs. You can take that to the bank.

Yes the yankees have learned from their mistakes. Omar dosn't realize baseball has changed. The mets are in for a rude awakening
