The Yankees send 12 runners to the plate and score 7 runs  in the 4th inning to win the game by a score of 7-0 against Red Sox starter  Dennis Eckersley cutting the Boston Red Sox lead to a single game. For  Ron Guidry, it is his 7th shutout of the 1978 American League season, and the firstst  lefty shutout in Fenway Park since 1974 AL season  (Ken Holtzman of the Oakland  A’s, on August 5th). With the Milwaukee Brewers' victory over the Minnesota  Twins, the Brewers trail the Red Sox by just 4 1/2 games.

That was a very enjoyable series. I loved that year and it might have been in my time as a Yankee fan the most exciting.  All the drama, Lemon taking over for Martin. The Bucky Dent HR. Guidry having as good a year as any pitcher I ever saw.Great season.

Nice post about a great Yankee comeback. The only negative is you are reminding me of how old I am!
