It just doesn't make sense. Even if the guy had something on Paterno, you'd figure somebody else would blow the whistle.

When this story first broke I was reserving judgement on Paterno. After all, you hate to think badly of icons like him. But, after reading more and more I can't help but think Paterno knew what was happening and he covered his tracks just enough to keep himself inside the law. But, I'm sure there are some  powerful and influential people behind this cover-up.

The PSU football program generates about $70M a year for PSU. That's close to billion dollars over the 15 years of this crime. That's a lot of money and a lot of national exposure. You have to know that some very wealthy and powerful people stepped in and covered this up. That DA that disappeared probably met a rather nasty end. They also had Paterno by the balls too and he would go down with them if he ratted them out or told anyone on the outside what he knew.

I think if a thorough investigation of the football programs at a lot of the big schools was done you would find some very unsavory characters behind the scenes...as in organized crime.

All the AD had to tell people is that if you blow the whistle, you're fired. People at PSU knew that if this got out, even the proper way but someone reporting it immediately, then recruits could pull their commitments (like one has already dont and like others are thinking about), many school donors could stop donating, sanctions could be brought upon the the schools athletic program, etc.

So PSU's thought process was - lets cover this up and try to take tare of it ourselves (ex: taking away Sandusky's keys), and then if it some how comes out we throw our hands up and claim we didnt really know that much and with what we did know, it wasnt anything serious enough to warrant anything more than taking away Sandusky's keys.

Can someone tell me why the redheaded freak Mike McQu eery hasnnt been fired yet? This guy at the age of 28 walked in on Sandusky raping a boy and all he did was tell Paterno the next day. What a sick bunch of f*****.

You hit the nail on the head Rockin. This was a guy who witnessed this first hand and HE immediately should have called the police and should be immediately fired, not kept from attending the game for his "safety" b/c PSU students and JoePa supporters hold his responsble for Paternos fate. I'm not defending Paterno in the least, but McQ is WAY more guilty of not doing "the right thing" than Joe Pa.

There is ZERO reasons as to why Paterno was fired but McQ gets to keep his job. IMO, it seems to be getting clearer that PSU already had the idea of using Paterno as a scap goat because in the end no one would really "care" about what happened to McQ's job. People would really only "care" about the university icon and what happened to his job. Letting McQ keep his job and firing Paterno seems like nothing but a PR move by Penn State.

Someone mentioned about how much did McQueary actually know?

when McQueary saw what happened in the shower in 2002 ...

I believe McQueary was 28 when he saw Sandusky sexually assaulting the boy in the Penn State locker room shower in 2002.  According to McQueary's Grandjury testimony, he told Paterno about that crime the next day.  This is first confirmed time frame that Paterno knew Sandusky was using Penn State athletic facilities to attract his young rape victims.

However it is far more likely that Paterno knew Sandusky was raping young boys at the Penn State athletic facilities long before 2002.  But Paterno covered it up and continued to let Sandusky rape young boys for between 9 and 15 years.

Thats when McQ should have immediately called the police, not wait to tell Paterno. If he had any ballz, he shoudl have intervned to save the kid.  He's more guilty than JoePa. Its the same as if he saw a woman being raped in an alley, and walk into coach the next day to tell him. NO EXCUSE for McQ. His job was to call the cops.

Explain that to me Cleese. Seriously, how can you say theres zero reason JoePa was fired, or maybe I'm misreading what you meant.

Sorry, I kinda said that backwards and didnt say it properly. I meant - there is ZERO excuse as to why McQ keeps his job over Paterno instead of both of them getting fired.
