Let me be the first to admit I have been mistaken about the Yankee's performance so far this season. If you would have told me 6 weeks ago that the Yankees would have the best record in baseball I would have laughed in your face. But look at the standings, its amazing to see the Yanks in first, especially after the fawning over the great job the Red Sux supposedly retooled. Oh, those poor poor Red Sux. Don't ya feel real sorry for them? But I digress. The players Cashman brought in have done a fantastic job. Along with the pitching these new Yanks have done a great job. Hafner, Wells, Overbay have done the job. I don't know if the Yanks can improve that much when they start getting some of their regulars back from the injured list.

The pitching has been great inspire of injuries. But the real surprise comes from the offense. Already 14 come from behind wins including last night's defeat of Seattle. Look at the Cleveland DH, Phelps and Nuno gave great performances holding the hot Cleveland hitters to one run in the DH. Not C.C. Or Andy or Hiroki, David Phelps and an older left handed junker shut down the hottest hitting team in baseball. I am enjoying this, I will admit at first I was bummed seeing Nix and Boesch and Wells and Stewart play. I figured it was going to be disastrous. It still could but I doubt it. Hats off to Brian Cashman and our advance scouts. Let's hope they do this good of job in next Monty's draft!

Nobody in their right mind would have thought the Yanks would be doing this good. The  great news is that's it been a team effort. No single player is carrying the team with an MVP type year.

Old Ben Franklin himself would be proud how much lightning Cashman caught in a bottle this season.

Let this be a lesson as to why you don't concede anything until the games are played. I hated reading all the posts that trashed this team, the owners and Cashman this spring. The games are played on the field..... NOT Paper! Isn't it amazing.... You can't predict baseball.

At least Yankee1954 has the guts to make this thread and have his share of crow, there are a lot of people who trashed this team and have vanished now that they're winning....

I'll have some of that crow as well. I did NOT think the team would be doing this well. The pitching is the key of course but I go to last night.

A comeback like that and others we had wouldn't have been possible last year. Felix would have lasted the whole game because players like Tex,Swisher,Martin etc would have been out on three pitches trying to hit a home run.

Working a walk was not acceptable last year, nor trying to get a base hit or put the ball in play with bases loaded. A sac fly might not be as easy on the nerves as a grand slam but it got us the winning run.

I doubt there's anybody including the Yankee heirarchy who would have thought this team would be in 1st place right now with all the injuries they've had.  Anybody who tells you otherwise probably isn't being truthful.  Not only are they somehow in 1st, but they've got the best record on top of it.  The pitching has been very good.  I saw an interesting statement today about Mariano.  He has 16 saves already.  That's more saves than the Mets, Angels, Marlins, and Astros have - wins !  Crazy.

With that crow I suggest a large bowl of Lucky Charms! The two really go well...for if not for the luck of the Red Sucks releasing Lyle Overbay...we might have Dan Johnson playing first base for the Yankees and this season would be looking quite different!

I have been eaten crow since almost the beginning of the season, and I know I am not alone. I saved an article that a  Sport writer for the St. Pete Times wrote at the end of Spring Training he declared the Yanks will finish last. When October comes, I will e mail him and let him have it!

Last night was another of the one run wins that made me pause, because last year  the Yanks were not that good when it came to  winning one run games, Baltimore was. I have to tell you I stayed with the game even though 3 Runs in favor of Felix was a sure loss, but once the manager removed him because of an injury, this team was like a shark feeding frenzy. Loving it all!

The one thing that worries me is that CC did not fare well VS Felix, The King was dealing!

CC's velocity is still down a bit. I think he's still recovering from the surgery.

I stayed with the game also, even though with Felix pitching it would have been easy to give up. It shows you don't need homeruns to win.

Even more amazing is that if, and  yes its a big if, they keep u this pace throughout the rest of the season, theyll win 100 games. Who woulda thunk it?
