I don't think Cano is an A, simply because he seems to disappear in the clutch.  Here's a few stats that show it...

Late & Close:  .239

Tie Game:  .237

Game within 1 R:  .261

Game within 2 R:  .272

Game within 3 R:  .282

Game within 4 R:  .290

Game > 4R:  .372

He is making his statistics either when the Yankees are way ahead or way behind.  His worst inning to hit is also the first inning...the one where he's probably most likely not to be pitched around, so you can't really blame the "no protection" thing.  He also has been a hitter who really only hits when things are in his favor.  He's hitting .238 in counts with 2 strikes...that's not 0-2, that's all 2 strike counts.

He's batting .302 with 21 bombs 65 rbis and .386 obp.  He is having a career year in a lineup with no protection, no matter how you try to distort it that's an A rating period.

I will just pick out the ones I think you are way off on and explain why listing your grade before the name and my grade after.

B+ Kuroda A+    

2.65 ERA pitching in the AL east in Yankee stadium.  Outstanding numbers, on pace to be worth ~$25M this year while only making I think $15M.

C+ Nova A        

Early struggles and demotion keep me from giving him an A+.  His numbers have been outstanding including his advanced stats lately, and even when you combine his first half.  3.63 ERA with a 3.00 FIP pretty nice.  In the AL east in this stadium I would love it if Nova can post these numbers every year.

B+ Cano A

Putting up crazy numbers again for a 2nd basemen.  Only reason I did not give him an A+ is because I'm taking into account his potential which could be even higher.  Any other 2nd basemen putting up these numbers would have easily been an A+ for me.

B Ichiro C

Not a huge difference in our grade but one that I wanted to point out.  His offense numbers are not good when looked at as a 1st half whole.  He has made up for it with good defense and good base running.  Also if you want to say his potential isn't very high based on his age then B is probably a fair grade.  I just assume that most people here are weighing mostly on offense stats for these players, which Ichiro ranks very low on.

B Gardner A-

Great offense numbers, great defense, good base running skills.  The problem with Gardner is that he should have elite base running skills and that part of his game this year has been very lacking.  On pace for another 4 WAR season despite his struggles with the bases.

Shocking you would think that. Cano is no better than a B+ due to his lack of hustle at times and his streakiness, or lack of consistency. Looking at just his numbers he gets an A, throw in the intangibles and he's a B+ at best.
