Oakland won 0-1.  I didn't see the game but tuned into the radio (ESPN) during the 8th inning. Michael Kay did the PBP with Aaron Boone providing analyst role.  Kay was surprisingly good.

I can cheer for the Red Sox if them winning helps the Yankees. Did it a few times this year in fact.

Agreed - the ONLY excuse - but it was VERY hard to do !

I feel bad Boone couldn't get his ring back in 03. That World Series loss bothered me almost as much as 01

The worst series loss for me, was 1981 because I could not stand Lasorda and the Dodgers.  After that I would pick 2001 because of the fluke way the Yankees lost.

I was just happy we beat Boston and the curse was still on. For me 2001 was the worst.... It was such an emotional series with a lot of magical moments..... mystique and aura appearing nightly in the stadium.  I was at one of those games and the place shook. We had them (Arizona) until the unthinkable happened.... I still don't like to think about it.

Anyone but Boston (unless, like several others have said, it helps the Yankees.  Red Sox, Bruins, Patriots can all take a long walk off a short dock.   Clam chowder is the only good thing I know of that comes out of there (and it was probably invented in New York!).

Red Sox look like a box of the old Smith Brothers cough drops.  nc

Lola,

I know you want to see Donnie get a ring ... but I'm remembering my grandpa tonight ... and he hated the Dodgers ... he was the one that taught me all about baseball and the Yankees ... so to honor him I will hope that Donnie waits to get back into pinstripes to get his ring ... I'm going to pray for a Pittsburgh win this year.  I won't cry if Donnie gets his ring as a Dodger though ... I will be happy for him ... but I will then hope he returns home and gets two in pinstripes!

I like Dodgers or Pirates for the National League side, I think they stand a better chance against the Red Sox than any of the other National League teams. Which means I have no faith that no AL team will put a stop to them.

I'm only interested in seeing Donnie winning a title as a Yankee.

And there is no more avid Mattingly fan than I.
