If your going to charge that much for season tickets, the you must put the best product on the field possible.

He's a #1 starter and he's only 25. Yanks badly needed a young stud ace with both Kuroda and CC aging. (and Nova as a younger version of AJ Burnett..great stuff but mentally unstable).

If i'm Cashman i'm looking at a lefty #5 to add in a second lefty to this rotation and moving Phelps to the pen.(long relief/6th starter)

This is easily the best all around Yankee team(on paper..if healthy) since 2009.

Yanks had to overpay but I felt it was something they needed. This also tells all of us when the Yankees want someone, they spare no expense at getting it.

I agree with much of your assessment. Yankees did need to make a move like this, not only to fill the seats but to compete with the rest of the AL BEast.

BTW, ESPN is none too happy it seems. They have the Tanaka breaking news stamp on the page, but they keep scrolling Arod news. Haters!

Huh? They have always done this.

It would also suffice to say that whomever the Yankees DON'T, thet could careless about him....

Yankees season tickets have been "high" ever since 2009.....and that was a Championship year! Since then, they been doing nothing but cutting them...

Don't expect the world from Tanaka. We can't expect him to be "CC Sabathia" in his prime. Rather we should expect him to be more like Andy Pettitte.

Since the $189 goal, appears to be unrealistic for this season, then I think the Yankees should go now try to sign Johan Santana for a one year deal.

I don't care about the best team on paper. The Yankees were an excellent team on paper heading onto the 2013 season, until Tex and Granderson became injured and later re-injured along with Jeter, Youkalis, Arod, etc.......enough for them to lose gripping onto first place in the AL East.

Someone who knows how should tweet them abt their obvious prejudice and do so continually. I doubt they want that kind of reputation. But in any case, if they want to broadcast like a Fox News double, let them. We have Tanaka, and that's all that counts at the moment. I'd still go after another lefty for #4 or #5: Maholm?

They had another report about Tanaka, and they kept claiming how the Yankees go out and spend after the Red Sox win the World Series. I was wondering how long it would take for nESPN to bring the Red Sox into this conversation.
