Art, that's a Footloose reference.

Miser, that's "an hilarious premise" from Seinfeld.

This board has pros on it.

I don't consider any of the Rocky films after the original - the first Rocky was a classic must-watch-at-least-once-every-5-years-until-you-die film...  the rest could have been released as comedies."

I know what you mean, but objectively speaking that franchise was hugely successful. Each sequel was a sign of its time....the cheesiness of the 80s ruled the day.

Thanks for the advice Loon. But I am good with "Columbo", "Get Smart" reruns, and Turner Classic Movies.

Hey I have much respect for that.....I myself take in at least 6 seinfelds a day, at least if it's background noise.  I have no time for modern tv. If the odd couple or honeymooners were on I'd watch those too.

I get the "Odd Couple" and "Honeymooners" on METV.  Its a Directtv channel, with great programming.

Other than "Godfather 3" and "Goodfellas", I haven't seen any of the movies mentioned in this thread. Most of them, in fact, I've never even heard of.

Bomber stop reading books and this message board and doing things out of the house and instead rent these movies, sit in front of the TV and watch all of them. I await your reviews.

HAHA, well you are partially right.  I do read quite a bit.  Mostly the Bible and books related to Scripture and history.  I do, however, watch some TV. Most of what I watch is old reruns.  "M*A*S*H" (original with Henry and Trapper), "Columbo", "Taxi", "Odd Couple" (some of the all-time great shows).  THe movies are usually older movies as well.  Last week, for example, I watched "Cool Hand Luke" again.  The most recent good movie I saw was "Captain Phillips."

OK,

Top Ten TV Comedies of All Time (in no particular order except chronological)

Abbott & Costello Show

The Honeymooners

Bilko

Car 54

Barney Miller

Seinfeld

Frasier

Modern Family

I can't think of a final two that are in the same class as these eight.  Also-rans might include WKRP, MTM Show, sorry if I'm forgetting any really, laugh-out-loud funny shows.  Cheers is not included because I never found it that funny.  First couple of seasons were OK, but then it just started repeating itself.

You forgot Arrested Development.

No, I didn't forget it, I just never could get it.  I watched because the buzz about the show was good, but I just didn't get it.  Kind of like Curb Your Enthusiasm.  I tried and I tried to like a show starring the creative brain behind Seinfeld, but after a few episodes I said "This isn't funny.  Maybe it's me, but I'm just not laughing."  Other shows have been like that for me too, like The Office, Community and Parks and Recreation.  There is nothing so subjective as comedy.  Kind of like my aforementioned love for the movie "The Cable Guy."  Critics and moviegoers alike held their noses while giving the thumb-down sign, but I thought it was brilliant.

I never saw any of the shows you mentioned. Arredted Development, Office, Community and Parks, Curb Your Enthusiasm, also never saw 30 Rock. So I obviously can not include them in my top.

Never saw Modern Family either, so that wasn't in consideration.
