It's really a tragedy that no MLB players beat the living hell out of Pedro. I cannot imagine Pedro pitching in the 50s or 60s without getting his asskicked. People laugh at Don Zimmer for going at him, but the story of that was how cowardly the Yankees team was. Pedro deliberately threw at Karim Garcia's head because he was upset about giving up an RBI single to him in the prior at-bat. Instead of the team going at him, Joe Torre turned the team into cowards, and only Zim tried to do what was right. This was when the Yankees stood up for each other and did what's right. They also won the World Series. Torre was "embarrassed" by this. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKIHNsf8O_A

who went after Gibson or Drysdale in the 50's and 60's?

|
I remember when Pedro tried that crap on Sheffield. Sheffield stared at the mound and told him, "NOT. ME." He promptly hit a HR in his next AB.

I agree with '51, Torre let the league know that he wouldn't retaliate. The Sheffield Pedro incident is on YT. Pedro admits it was because Bernie took too long: youtu.be/viPyVucAFUQ
