I don't disagree, but it is getting ridiculious.

Posada? Bernie? Tino has a plaque. It has no meaning.

Love Andy. But we are in the mid-80's folks. All these retired numbers are losing meaning. Bernie, Posada, etc. a case can be made for and against and that to me is the problem, against.

No one would dare deny that no other player should ever wear the #3 or #4, etc. But no one should ever wear #44? Can #20 be held evenly with #8? Can #51 be held up evenly with #5 or #7?

No criteria since the Steinbrenner family took over. It makes for a day of ticket sales and tune in. Sad state affairs for this teams legacy when you diminish the real greats with the great right now.

Andy's post-season accomplishments should be looked at when you talk about him ... one can make an argument that Andy deserves this recognition.

Yeah, but these guys are partly responsible for 5 World Championships and 7 AL Pennants.

When the Yankees start issuing plaques to Jason Giambi for his 2002 post heroic or Jesse Barfield for his number OF Assists, then maybe I'll find the mood to protest.  If the Yankee careers of Arod and Teixeira only have them for 1 World Series Championship, then I would protest as well.

Being immortalize into Yankee lore, to me, is equivalent to being awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor in terms of service and achievement in Yankeeland. These will probably never make the MLB HoF, but their legend in Yankee pinstripes will be enough for younger and future Yankees to strive for. To me, that's a good thing.
