Between posting fee and a four year contract the Pirates paid $16M.  He plays 3B and SS with a .299/.360/.463 triple slash.  It would have been nice if he was doing it for us.

Why since we have Drew.


 It also would have involved scouting a player and work on Cashmans part.

It's too early to speculate on Kang's MLB ability. He just recently started getting regular ABs, so his AVG is extremely volatile right now. Nobody in the league seemed enarmored with him though, so I wouldn't single out the Yankees for not signing him. It seems Korean position players have an extremely high failure rate in MLB. I can't even think of Korean position players that had success.

I can't think of any position players that hit under .200 for over half a season and came back to contribute in a positive way.
