Question, if the knee replacement thing is accurate does that mean CC won't be able to pitch again ?? If so how does that fit his contract with us ??

He still gets paid. If he is unable to pitch and opts for a medical retirement, insurance should compensate the Yanks for most of that salary.

Well, my guess is that he may have to retire. Recovery from replacements is remakably fast. Mines not imminent but, my Dr told me no more running after it. Its no so much because you CANT but, it will wear the joint down, make a second replacement sooner (he is too young for one, as they last about 15-20 years) Also, higher impact will loosen the joints 'glue' based on present surgery technology. Professional sports activity i would think might be too much too expect of a knee replacement Based on where the technology is today.

If he can't pitch because of health issues he'll take a medical retirement and get all his money. The Yankees have insurance on him in case of injury and that would pay for something in the area of 80 percent. They'd have to pick up the balance. He would have to stay on the 40 man roster, and his salary would still be counted against the luxury tax.

I kind of get the feeling that he is going to put it all out on the table the rest of this season. Despite his well beyond average performance this season overall (he has been much better lately though) it's not due to a lack of effort. The dude is a warrior and outside of his leg falling off he's gonna take the mound and give it his all.

The ESPN announcers made a comment about how the brace has allowed him to throw his breaking ball inside to righties which he wasn't able to do all season. This year Sabathia was more dominant than ever against lefties but batting practice until recently against righties.
