Oh yea! In 2000 we also finished lousy. Great comparison. Oh wait. That was a championship caliber team who'd just won 3 titles in its past 4 years. Never mind.

thats my point, the way we played the second half was horible in 2000, we almost missed the playoffs but none of that mattered in October in 2000 because we won the world series,

on September 13 2000 the Yankees proceded to lose  13 out of there last 15 and we almost lost the division ....

I think what loon was referring to is the team of 2000 had championship caliber players on the team and could have managed to do that but this team has championship poo throwers on the team and can't manage to do that so the comparison is kind of moot , correct me if I'm wrong looney.

What good came out of yesterday?

The Astros lost.

The red-hot Angels got eliminated.

The Royals passed the Jays for best record so the Yanks get them in the ALDS instead of the Jays.

Look, I don't expect the Yanks to win the ALDS, and I give them a no better than a 50/50 shot to win the Wild Card game, but in the post-season strange stuff happens because everything is small sample size.

3 days rest won't be a factor with keuchel but hopefully 3rd time is a charm. other than the game against us at the stadium, has decidely worse splits on the road. have patient at-bats and don't try to pull everything. can't get greedy with this team, will be happy getting into the alds.

Thank you, where's CANOERA? We just need him to sign off on this and then we can pack our bags for the ALDS.

I'm hoping that our bats warm up, and Tanaka pitches a gem.. I guess one thing for sure, the bats don't have to warm up much to be warmer than they've been.. LOL..Wink

I don't know if 3 days rest will be a factor with Keuchel.  Logic says he is young and strong and he'll be ok.  However, pitchers develop a routine of pitch day, off day, throw day, 2 rest days, and then back to pitch day.  Disrupting that routine has been a problem for as many pitchers as it hasn't.

The thing that is most concerning to me is the sudden lack of success against lefties the Yankees have had since August 1st.  Despite their lefty-laden lineup, they were actually quite successful against lefties in the first half of the year, even high quality lefties.  Since August 1st, they haven't done a damn thing.  Unless something changes on a dime, I think the Astros could throw Capuano at us and we wouldn't win.
