The loss was expected but the lack of effort should be unacceptable.

I have seen the Yankees lose 90 plus games in a season and saw more effort on a daily basis on those teams then this team put out the past few weeks. I understand that injuries hurt the team but the lack of fire from the players following Tex and Eovaldi going down was something I have never seen from a Yankee team. It literally looked like the fight went out of them in August and they just looked forward to getting the season over with.

To somehow get to a one game winner take all game as hard as they tried to even blow that chance and simply not show up defies explanation. It's hard to know how a manager can motivate millionaires to care but whatever method Girardi tried failed miserably. I am not calling for a change at manager but a change in philosophy might be in order. Sometimes always having a players back doesn't work. Sometimes a kick in the butt may be whats needed. If a player gives an unacceptable performance call him on it don't defend whats indefensible.

I didn't see a lack of effort at all.  I think they actually played hard.  The defense was sharp, they were hustling.  They just couldn't hit.

The words lack of effort are not the best, there was effort, the problem is there was just a lack of passion. i didnt see the passion in the body language or facial expeessions.

It's not really a lack of effort, heart or passion. It's a lack of ability and health. Also an excess of age.

I have to disagree with you bud , I think almighty Joe who seems to always get a pass has much blame as the players , he coddled the players played Rest o Rama the second part of the season and the players were unable able to get into a rhythm and in return no spark they are getting paid millions let them play ! Let me ask you this where did resting get them after the All Star game ? A blown division lead and an early exit! You said in another thread you would have like to seen Els and Gardy steal more I can't agree with you more I would love to have seen a lot more of that to just last year we were making reference to are one two punch that sparks the offense but Joe always had in his mind Power he made reference all season long to how this team plays long ball, how this team is built for this stadium ,phooey would have love to seen a mixture of long ball associated with small ball , what happen to the fundamentals of baseball the hit and run ? the sacrifice bunt? the sacrifice fly? stealing of bases? hitting the other way to advance the runner ?all out the window for the long ball , everyone swinging for the fences !! Last but not least passion ! there was no passion no motivation wtf Joe these guys are making millions they are PROFESSIONAL  players get them motivated light a fire under their ass , don't make excuses lay into them , I make peanuts compared to these guys I know if I wasn't performing my boss would be on me like jinna on canoholio ( sorry but couldn't resist) but anyway yea my boss would be on me until I started to get my lazy ass going and performing not telling me to take a rest or couple days off wtf , so yea next season hoping we get the Yankee passion and drive of the past and hoping Joe leaves his lolipops at home! in closing bottom line the Players better start Playing and the Manager better start Managing !! Fire and Passion for 2016!
