Oh no, say it isn't so Joe. Please don't tell me you are a FishStick aka Islanders fan?

And if you are, its about time I found the 8th fan. I know they have 8 fans, and I know 7 of them, and have been looking for the 8th fan.

Yea they have a superstar in Tavares. Tough team. Wish the Rangers had a player like Martin.

I like Henrik but it hamstrings the team having that much money tied up in a goalie. As we see in the playoffs you can get a nobody goalie and win. It's more important whats in front of them. Staal and Girardis contracts probably kill them to.

You know more about this then me Joe with the cap and age on this team but I think they need to reboot. I like Yandel. Hope they can keep him. They have to hope Krieder turns into a star. To much talent to not be patient. Zuccarella should stay. Love his game. After that not sure who should be off the table. McDonough seems to be turning into that injury prone player.

After that I'm not sure who they can move and what they can bring in but this team needs changes. Penguins talent is on a different level. Caps to.

Hated to see them just give Hagelin away. Talbot to.

Do you know if the 20 year old Russian is anything to get pumped about?.

Sorry Joe I just read your a Devs fan. Probably still know more then me.

Hustle or Tony can probably give good answers.

As i said in other thread, their D is slow and sloppy. As good as Henrik is, IMO, in Rangers history, he's def behind MIke Richter, and MAYBE, behind Eddie. Eddie played in a 6 team, and fisrt expansion era, and IMO,the talent was very concentrated on fewer teams. MIKe R won a cup...maybe soem of the best goaltending Ive seen in a series. If not for Richter, the Rangers nver get past NJ, despite Messiers 'guarantee'.  I could go on forever on hocky but, with the rules changes over the years, (most bad imo) teams with crisp passing, speed, size, and disciplined position wise, will succed. Rangers in dexline IMO for going all in on Nash.  They thgt he was the answer....we now know better!

Yea he's a stiff. From what I read he makes to much to trade. They never seem to address toughness either. Martin on the Islanders can play but he's tough . Glass is the only tough guy on the team and not overly skilled.

I agree about your goalie assessment. Brad Park was my favorite Ranger. The Middleton trade got me sick for years.

I think Krieder has so much talent. Big, strong , fast but he's so inconsistent.

I think they need to blow it up if they really want to improve because this group has seen their best days. The salary cap screws everything up. How can the Penguins add Kessel with all their offensive talent and the Rangers dump players?

I really like the way Yandel moves the puck. Hope he can stay.

They are idiots like the Knicks dealing all their 1st rounders. Not sure if this is the last year without one . Hopefully not.

Well, let me start off by saying I have been a Ranger Fan, since the days I played street hockey as a kid in the NYC YMCA league, and during the days of the original 6 era. I use to get out of high school in Manhattan, around 2:30 PM, and run up to 49th street and 8th ave, to the old garden, to stand on line for the general admission seats at the old MSG with my School GO card, and wait till the Garden opened at 6:PM, and fight for the front row seats up stairs to watch the Rangers Play.

To me, there is no sport like the game of hockey where the athletes play for the love of the game.

IMO, the Ranger Fans, are the best and most loyal fans in all of hockey. That is why the rivalry between the Devil Fans, and mostly the Islander fans is so intense. Islanders accomplished one of the great stories in hockey, winning 4 cups in a row. And the reason Ranger Fans hate Islander fans (all 8 of them), is because they never deserved a team like that, Ranger Fans did. They were not hockey fans, they were people on Long Island that realized they had a hockey team in first place, and they all jumped on the band wagon, and they wouldn't have known the difference between a Blue Line and a Clothes Line. Right now they are in the 2nd round of the playoffs after many years, and you see all these fly by night Islander fans with their brand new Jersey's and Hats, with the price tags still on them. That's so, when, and if the Islanders get knocked out, they can go to Modell's or Dicks Sporting Goods and return them.

Now to get back to this season, and the state of this Ranger Team, first let me say, even at the beginning of the season, when the Rangers were on their straight win streak, I noticed and said, this team is not playing good hockey and if it wasn't for Lundqvist they would not be in the top 3 in their division. I have always said, during the days of the 1940 chants, if the Rangers want to win the Cup, they need a kick A$$ Coach, because this is NYC, and you need a hard nose kick A$$ coach, and a leader on the ice. When they got Messier, and then Iron Mike behind the bench, they had the best leader in the history of the Rangers on the ice, and the best leader on the bench. Something they did not have this season. This Ranger team lacked leadership on the ice, and on the bench. They were too soft, and in the first round of the playoffs, they had no heart, no grit, no leadership, no pride, and no intensity at all. How do you allow a guy like Letang swing his stick, knock 3 teeth out of Stallberg, laying on the ice, and no one did nothing about it. You are losing the game by 4 goals, the game was over, drop the gloves and sent him and the Penguins a message for the next game. It never happen.

I like AV, but he needs to learn to make players accountable, and he needs to show some emotions on the bench. You have a 40 goal scorer on your team Rick Nash, he scored 42 goals last season, was a plus 29 on the ice, playing with Brassard, and Zuc, and AV, splits them up the next season, and uses Rick Nash more on Penalty killing then on the Power Play. Ridiculous.

You have young guys like Kreider and Hayes, who should be big power forwards, and you have to make sure they tow the line, on the ice, and off the ice in NYC. I heard many rumors about Kreider beilng a party boy in Mahattan.

Rangers need to do what ever they can to keep Yendal. They cannot afford to lost this guy. I am not happy with McD as the Capt., I thing the "C" is too heavy for him. McILrath, can learn to play like a big time Buckaboom, something missing on the Ranger D for some time. But AV, like he did with Vancouver, loves to play the Vets over youth. That's what got him fired. Rangers have a good solid back up for Lundqvist. I had no problem with them letting Talbot go, for draft picks. He did a great job as back up, but when it comes to a number one, he still has to prove himself. Oilers didn't even make the playoffs this season.

And yes the Rangers can use a John Tavarse type player, but they are number 1 over all picks in the draft. Rangers in their history, have never had the number 1 over all pick in the draft, and that's because they never finished last, ever in their history.

I don't think the Rangers will get rid of AV this season, he has 1 more yr on his contract, and there is a new GM, so lets see what he does to make this team better. They have a lot of good young players coming up, and yes that Russian Kid is one of them.

Right now, in hockey, of course you have to say the Islanders are the best in NYC. (Screw  Em)

Remember this Ranger and Hockey Fans in NYC, Islanders won 4 Cups in a Row, and they had about 100 thousand fly by night fans standing on Hempstead Turnpike with Sparklers in their hands.

Devils won the Cup on a Saturday Night, and had a parade in the parking lot with the Seagulls in the Meadowlands and the next day no one gave a $hit.

Rangers won the cup in 94, and they are still talking about it. They had a parade down the Canyon of Heroes and 2 million Ranger Fans showed up, Even though there was a Long Island Rail Road Strike going on.

When it comes to Hockey in NYC, there is only one team, and one set of Fans, and that's The New York Rangers.

What other sport can you see two guys after a tough battle in the playoffs go to center ice one with a black eye, the other with blood coming down  his face and eye bleeding, who both gave that too each other.

The great photo of Maurice the Rocket Richard and Sugar Henry of the Boston Bruins. This tells you what the sport of hockey is all about.

I don't agree with you on this Joe. Richter, Eddie and Lundqvist are all up there as top goalies for the Rangers and there is an argument for all 3 of them. Very hard to compare them.

First Eddie, was a complete different era, and the game was completely different.

Richter had a much better team and defense playing in front of him, and the rules were not the same as today, along with the goalie equipment.

Lundqvist, is a franchise player in goal, and you can almost compare him to the NY Knicks when they had a great franchise player, Patrick Ewing, and they just could not put all the pieces together to compliment him and build a championship team, both came close but never got to win it all. And right now that is the problem with Lundqvist, he like Ewing in those days, is getting older, and time wears you down in a physical sport. But Lundqvist was and still is a top notch goalie in the NHL, and like all great players time is catching up on him. If I had to pick one of them, I would go with Lundqvist, but you can make an argument for all 3 of them, but you have to look at the overall picture.

And like your views on Mike R, you can say the same for Lundqvist, the past 5 season, without Lundqvist, they would have never gone as far this year, or the past two season under AV and with Torts when the won the Presidents Trophy, without Lundqvist in the nets. Rangers would have never made the playoffs this season without Lundqvist in the nets. He won more games in the nets. And there were times the Rangers won games, because Lundqvist was the only guy on the ice to show up for the Rangers.

And lets not forget, all the games that Lundqvist won in shoot outs, when the Rangers were lucky to even get there. But many games they played for the tie, because they knew Lundqvist would win it in a shoot out. He was one of the best one on one.
