I'll keep this thread going thru the July 31st trade deadline. All comments and rumors are welcomed.

Cubs want both Aroldis Chapman and Andrew Miller from Yankees, report says

Now this is a fun rumor.

As the Yankees try to pick themselves up after three losses in a row (including an ugly high-scoring affair in Colorado on Tuesday night), trade rumor season has arrived. The MLB Draft is in the books, meaning front offices can focus on the stretch drive for 2016.

In Chicago, the Cubs are focused on just one thing: Winning a World Series in October and breaking a drought that has been going on since before World War I began.

With the MLB Draft in the rear-view mirror, it's time to focus on the trade market. Watch out for these big moves by August 1.

Enter the Yankees, potentially as sellers, and a bullpen that has multiple intriguing pieces for the Cubs to scout. While the idea of Chicago landing one of Andrew MillerAroldis Chapman or Dellin Betances was logical, the latest report on the Cubs interest in Yankees reliever is downright scary—at least for the other National League contenders.

According to Phil Rogers of MLB.com, the rumors aren't just true; they've been understated. Chicago doesn't just want one of the Yankees arms. They want Chapman and Miller, per Rogers' story:

Yes, Miller and Chapman in the same deal. I'd guarantee you that the Cubs will at least explore that, assuming the Yankees get to the point where they are willing to make them available.

Rogers goes on to explain the desperation from Cubs ownership, Theo Epstein's history with Miller and how the club could sure up it's only weakness by adding two impact players.

From the Yankees perspective, Miller-for-Kyle Schwarber may have been off the table and Jorge Soler could be possible, but it's hard to imagine much off limits if New York includes both—which means keeping Miller and/or Chapman away from other NL contenders like the Nationals and Giants.

If the Yankees become sellers at the trade deadline, here are prospects that should be targeted in potential deals.

Buckle up, Yankees fans. The team doesn't sell often, but when they do, big possibilities apparently do exist.

MLB trade rumors: Could Yankees deal Andrew Miller for Ranger's Joey Gallo?

Joey Gallo, Andrew Miller

The Yankees reportedly won't decide whether they're trade market buyers or sellers until the deadline.

Until then, there will be a ton of speculation. Who would they deal? Who could they deal? What could they get in return? And that's not to mention the question of whether they should start selling off parts in the first place.

There will also be plenty of serious reporting as teams gauge what they want from the Yankees and what they might be willing to give up.

With that in mind, here's this from FanRag Sports Network's Jon Heyman: If the Yankees want power-hitting prospect Joey Gallo, they're going to have to toss in more than just elite left-handed reliever Andrew Miller.

That the Yankees might consider parting with Miller is no shock. General manager Brian Cashman admitted to listening to offers for the versatile strikeout machine in the offseason.

He might also be the Yankees' most prized trade chip right now. With Aroldis Chapman set to become a free agent next season, and with the number of innings on the right shoulder of Dellin Betances, Miller is signed through 2018 at a reasonable rate ($9 million a year).

Gallo will also attract plenty of interest. The 22-year-old has tremendous left-handed power — think about what he'd do to Yankee Stadium's right field short porch. But in Texas he's blocked at his natural position, third base, by Adrian Beltre. Gallo has played some left field.

It cracks me up these teams who want your player and feel they need him to win it all are dictating who the Yanks can't have. Well then you can't have Miller. OK I'll throw in Headley.

Yep. They want a stud but don't want to pay for it.

Cashman has to play these teams off on one another. The Cubs, Nats,Dodgers, Rangers and whoever else needs them who has good assests.

Get then into a bidding war. There a few teams looking for a closer. Cubs, Nats, Rangers, and Dodgers come to mind.

My pleasure.  I usually do one each year, but this one is a month earlier than normal.
