I'm told by an unreliable source that "Hicks is on the cusp of greatness".  lol

Is that the same source that told you A Rod and Tex are going to kill it in the second half???

Anyone wonder why so many of us fans have zero confidence in the FO?

lol! I don't know about that, but he's one that did make a productive out in the 2nd inning. If others in the Yankee line up would have done the same they would have won last night's game easy.

The problem with playing Hicks, Gardner and Els at  the same time is the fact there really is no pop in the outfield. Middle of order needs a run producer to replace what they hoped ARod would do. Assume down the road it woul dbe Judge but right now lineup has deficiencies in middle especially with McCann doing nothing and Tex up until yesterday struggling.

I agree with Michael Kay in that I don'the understand the Yankees love affair with Hicks.  Yes, he is better defensively than Beltran, but he is an automatic out.

McCann has been another disappointment.  He is a very streaky hitter.  Austin Romine is a better hitter and seemed to do well with the pitchers.  Where is he?

Gardner, Ellis bury and Headey are streaky hitters.

Castro admitted he hit better in the National League.

And, we can only rely on CC and Tanaka.  The other starters are scary.

There is no middle relief.

The bullpen is great.

Can we make the playoffs with this group????  I doubt it.

While I've been a strong advocate of the youth movement, I do have my doubts that the Yankee decision makers and to some extent the fans have the patience that would be required for this transition. The Yankees obviously liked Hicks, a young player who seemed to take a step forward during the second half of the season last year. So what do we do, we bring him to NY, make him a 4th outfielder and play him inconsistently. Now a lot of fans seem willing to label him as a bust before he's played even 1/2 of a season in NY, simalarly to the discussion about Didi last year at this time. It seems to me that young players will struggle from time to time and we need to let them play through it before labeling them a bust. I for one would rather see Hicks play eveyday and move Beltran to DH. At least we would be better defensively and in a season where this team is going no where we would have a better feel as to what kind of player this young outfielder will be. I can only imagine if/when Judge comes up if he has a slow start what fans will be saying.

Bingo!!! The evaluation period by most fans, for young players is about 4 weeks.
