President George W. Bush Richard Painter blasted President Donald Trump’s stubborn refusal to denounce white supremacists and his attempt to equally blame the left for the violence that killed a 32-year-old woman in Charlottesville, VA. “What this is all about is not the National Socialists or the Ku Klux Klan,” Painter said. “This is an umbrella organization or movement called the alt-right and the alt-right is a terrorist movement.” He went on, “And that’s what we have seen: deaths today in Charlottesville because of the alt-right terrorist movement. It was given a platform by Steve Bannon at Breitbart News and the Trump administration needs to remove from the federal government anyone who has had any association with this so-called alt-right movement.” “People are dying because of it,” Painter said. “It’s a threat to our national security and these people need to be out.” Painter has been a gadfly on the Trump administration, saying that people like White House aides Sebastian Gorka and Steve Bannon are dangerous right-wing ideologues.

President Donald Trump was publicly called out after one person was murdered by a car driven into anti-fascist protesters in Charlottesville, Virginia. Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) is demanding his fellow Republican acknowledge the Charlottesville fatality as an act of terror.

I wonder if any posters here went to the rally. If Craner or anyone attended I hope they shared their experience. Those alt right conservatives bearing shields, helmets, and weaponry looks well prepared to take on the challenges of their convictions. Good to see they are no longer hiding beneath the sheets. I really hope someone here would step up to the plate as I'm curiously looking forward to having a debate with a white supremacist on such matters.

I see my name posted here in with racists. Shame on you Lauren. You've known me as a poster here for over 10 yrs. This kind of crap is exactly why I'm not a regular here anymore. As to this horrible event I along with any normal thinking American condemn it 100% just as Trump has despite the media trying to imply he hasn't and is a racist himself. Your types Lauren helped fuel this with the idiotic choice of removing Robert E Lee after decades there. Lee was a good man, a great American who fought for his belief at the time along with many other good men that they were fighting a 2nd war of independence. Silly ****ic choice removing his statue.
ALL those involved in violence there should be punished severly especially the car driver. But there were violent members in the anti march as well. Of course this will get major news attention while the violent anti Trump protests get little.

That's a real low blow Lauren. I'm surprised . I thought you had more class then that. I guess in your mind anyone who supports Trump is a white supremacist. That's like saying anyone who supported Obama supported the assinations of those Police Officers in Dallas.

First off, screw Robert E. Lee!!!!!!!!! He was a great General but HE WAS A TRAITOR! Benedict Arnold was a American war hero too before he became a traitor. The South lost, there shouldn't be a statue for Robert E. Lee just like there shouldn't be one of Benedict Arnold. Lee wasn't a great American, a great American wouldn't support succeeding from the Union. HE WAS A TRAITOR! Stop trying to sugarcoat what Lee did.
Secondly, It ISN'T THE MEDIA. It's Trump's own words or lack there of. He missed ANOTHER chance to condemn David Duke and White Supremacists. His "all sides" quote is a false equivalent and that quote tarnished the rest of his statement. He should condemn all White Supremacists. The violent idiots on the other side didn't march in on a liberal town who didn't want them like the White Supremacists did. They also aren't aligning themselves with Trump like Duke tried to do. Thirdly, if someone used your name as cover for a white supremacist unite the right rally like Duke did with Trump, are you telling me that you wouldn't call Duke and white supremacists violent idiots? I think you would and you have every right to do so.

I'm purposely using quotes from a Republican. The quotes are direct, they aren't a vague "all sides" BS quote. This is how to condemn white supremacists...........
"Their tiki torches may be fueled by citronella but their ideas are fueled by hate, & have no place in civil society." ~Orin Hatch "We should call evil by its name. My brother didn't give his life fighting Hitler for N@zi ideas to go unchallenged here at home." ~Orin Hatch

I didn't make any opinions about white supremacy. Just curious if anyone here attended those rallies to provide insight. Their passion and strife is front and center. Before anyone jump down my throat, it's cruical to understand their plight and struggles. Why is it so complicated to find some answers? White supremacist or otherwise, many suppporting their cause has been overt about their strife. It's time to have a dialogue to understand the challenges we face. What better way to understand their cause if you can converse with someone who attended those rallies? If white supremacy has any validity, it's a good thing to hear it in providing some understanding. In the past I recalled Craner expressing his opinion on the matter. If he attended those rallies it's a good thing to provide insight toward their cause. I have a good friend who happens to be a lifetime supporter of communism and their struggles. Although I'm not a communist, I've attend her meetings to contribute my thoughts in the matter and to garner some understanding of their strife. Does that make me a communist??? No!! I'm just curious with their reasons for their choices. Dispite her choices, she remains my friend.
