Yankees are believed willing to pay half or so of the 68M to go on ellsbury in a potential trade. Bigger hurdle: getting him to waive full no-trade clause (he wants to stay)

Jacoby must be hoping for the A-Rod buy out plan.  He can't possibly think that they would want to use him, in fact if he were manager would he use him?

Acording to Rosenthal at the Winter Meetings The Yankees still have money to spend and also could still make some big trades!

One way for to trade Ellsbury, assuming he will waive no-trade: Attach quality prospects. New team effectively would “buy” the prospects to take on negotiated percentage of Ellsbury’s contract: $21.1M through ‘20, plus $5M buyout for ‘21.

no to elite prospects. It should be a pure salary dump. He is owed 66 million (22 million per year). Yankees eat 42 million , throw in 1 to 2 decent lower level prospects and call it a  day.

That's only a starting point. Yankees are basically saying that they'll pay half if you give us nothing in return but we will pay more if you give us decent prospects.

They say that Seattle is the best fit for Ellsbury, being that he lives near the area and would likely waive his NTC. That location is the best and first place to start with.

Gosh, I hate the idea that the Yankees are willing to eat half of that contract. Whoever's idea was it to sign Ellsbury, in the first place, should be the one to fit that bill.

With the Yankees willing to pay half (or so), they won't need to attach any prospects to it.
