Dave Stewart is not in the HoF so I don't think Mussina will be.
Mussina was 270 - 153
Stewart was 168 - 129
Mussina deserves it abundantly more than Stewart!
Neither are close on lifetime numbers. At least with Stewart you can point out his dominance from 87-90. I can't see either getting in.
Mussina pitched in the AL East his entire career, case closed.

Mussina had a Hall of Fame career, IMO. Gray is a middle of a rotation guy at this point. He looks like a solid pitcher, but not an ace.
I think Moose missed the Hall by just a few plays. The Benitez blown save that cost him a 20 game season for Baltimore. Carl Everett getting a hit to spoil the perfect game in the 9th in Boston. Arizona's blooper off Mo to deny Mike a World Series ring.
I think Mussina is a Hall Of Famer his numbers are almost identical to Curt Schillings numbers Mussina doesnt have WS Rings but not all Hall Of Famers have rings. thats not what its about its about your over all numbers. didnt Mussina finally win 20 in his final year or was it 19 wins?
Schillings not in either

Moose is a no brainer - if these idiots that vote are using 300 as the threshold for a starter then most likley they won't vote in another starter for a few decades.... all those wins in the AL East against some of the biggest steroid users? c'mon, the guy if a HOFer!

I recall during the 1989 Workd Series the pundits saying the West Coast would dominate forever because they had the most to offer free agents.

I think Schilling was a better and more dominant pitcher then Mussina but I have to confess that I wasn't a big Moose fan. I didn't like watching him start out with an 0-2 count and then nibble for the next 5 pitches

I wasn't a big Moose fan either... he was too sullen and moody. I hate nibblers.

if john smoltz is in, then mussina is in. i know smoltz spent a bunch of years in the bullpen but career-wise moose had better stats especially considering the al east thing. also smoltz pitched for mostly great brave teams while the orioles were a sub .500 team for many of moose's years. moose was a cy young contender 9 times, smoltz 5 times. mussina 270 153 .638 3.68 era 2813 k 1.192 whip smoltz 213 155 .579 .3.33 era 3084 k 1.176 whip

I think Grays motion is almost identical to Cone. Gray will be fine. I’m a little disappointed Rothchild was retained.

Maybe we need Coney working with him...
