You would think they signed Gardner  to a $100 million contract  the way this guy pushes the envelope .

I know lots of people have lots of issues with WAR numbers, or just about any compliation used by the SABR guys to judge the value of a player over a career. I am not arguing that those numbers are perfect. But they do indicate something.

When you look at the neighborhood where Gardner resides, you see his name above Lonnie Smith, Frank Howard, Pedro Guerrero and Mioses Alou. Those were all very good players. And that is what Brett Gardner has been for a very long time. I hopethe guy only gets 340 pa this year becaue others outperform him. And I hope Clint Frazier turns out to be as good as Gardner for the Yankees.

No. No. and No.  I don't want his attitude in our town, not to mention his skill is highly overrated.

Attitude? The guy is a team player and is even willing to play 1B if that's what the team wants.

What's wrong with his "attitude"? Yanks could use a little fire.

And a lefty power bat in their line up too.

Gardner's career BA is .261 not .200 and his career OBP is.345.

Also, something that tragically gets overlooked about Gardner is that for many years throughout his career he was consistently the Yankees second best hitter with RISP. In the Cano years, Robbie was the Yankees best hitter with RISP but Gardner was close behind in second place on the team. Gardner was a clutch hitter who delivered high quality grindnig at bats with RISP for many years — the kind of at bats these recent Yankees teams are in desperate need of.

Gardner has reached a point where his veteran leadership and tutelage is quite an important and valuable contribution on a team loaded with young athletes.

Let's keep a 200 hitting LF for 10 years tho

Gardner's career BA is .261 not .200 and his career OBP is.345. What's your point other than to let everyone know how much you hate him...AGAIN?

He and hamp are the he-man Gardy-hating club!

I have said for a long time that Gardner is not going to be truly apprecaied until he is no longer here....and someone else is out there on a regular basis chasing after balls that get down in the huge left center gap----balls that Gardner would have gotten to and recorded an out.....

Gardner has been my favorite Yankee for the last 10 years. You will find that there are a couple of posters here that post their dislike of Gardy far more than anything else they post about. As much as I have liked him, I have always seen him for what he is, a valuable role player and contributer on a team full of big names.I will never understand the dislike for a homegrown, hardnosed player. He gets an absurd amount of negative ink here.
