Per ESPN

TAMPA, Fla. -- New York Yankees starting pitcher Luis Severino has been shut down for two weeks after an MRI showed he has rotator cuff inflammation in right shoulder, manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday.

Severino will not be ready in time to start on Opening Day.

He was a late scratch ahead of his scheduled appearance Tuesday against the Atlanta Braves due to right shoulder discomfort.

"When he was getting warmed up for the game, he just threw a pitch and felt something around the lat or back of the shoulder and just didn't feel right, so [he] walked off," Boone said during the telecast on the Yankees' YES Network. "He's going to see the doctor and get an MRI this afternoon and kind of hope for the best."

This has been going on since late last season he arm was DEAD.

The Yankkes SHOULD HAVE but now they better go out and trade for a top of the line pitcher.

There is no way Louie makes a full season this year.  How the Yankees did not see this coming from the clouds above is beyond me.

I;'ll say it once twice 90 times here.

You need another SP since 2018 November!

Why was Severino tested in the offseason? You mean after a short spring training session, he now's developing inflammation? Sounds very suspicious already.

The ninja better do one of his spectacular sneaky moves or his revamped rotation Undecided could set this team back before it begins. If Sevy has to go under the knife, the Gambler has no choice but to snatch up one of these remaining FAs now. Either that or his typical MO (dumpster diving). What a tool of a GM, always scurrying instead of having a Plan B. Anyone of us could do the same amd get paid a whole lot less. He’s the Carson Daly of GMs. He will be ousted after this season Innocent

We have several plan "B's", Loaisiga is the only one with any real amount of MLB experience. Either way he can't win. Guys like you will complain if he goes dumpster diving, overpays for a FA in a "panic move" and blocks a young kid like Loaisiga, or if he goes with Loaisiga you'll complain  the first time the kid struggles and complain that he couldn't even find a dumpster to dive into.

Pointless. People get hurt playing professional sports. Newsflash: it's not Brian Cashman's fault that Severino's arm hurts.

Loasiga? Same pitcher that can’t stay healthy is gonna replace our ace? Oh no, we have Paxton for that Undecided (another injury waiting to happen) or Tanaka perhaps with his fragile arm (TJ waiting to happen). Is this a win now year or not? Raise your standards instead of telling me to lower mine there bud.

we have needed a starting pitcher since November 2009 not 2018. Seriously been saying this for a number of years. And now after all the bs of the offeason and how we have to improve our starting pitching there is a good chance that Cessa, Germain and Loaisaga will be filling 40% of the rotation the first week. How pitiful. And then people wonder why we can't catch the Red Sox.
