Two more mass shooting in less than 24 hours, 29 people dead, and who knows how many of the severely wounded might still die ?? What does it have to prove that our POTUS has filled the country with so much racial hatred and bias against anyone that's not white ?? Again AR style rifles come into play, multi round fire guns that can kill and injure a lot of people in a few minutes.. These are the guns of choice that should be taken off the streets except for anyone not in the military or a police dept...

I agree. It's now 4 mass shootings in a week. You know things are totally out of control when you turn on the TV and think the news is talking about the shooting in Texas only to learn that the news was talking about another shooting in Ohio.

Stricter background checks are needed and the loopholes in the gun laws need to be closed.

Pete Buttigieg: America ‘Under Attack From Homegrown White Nationalist Terrorists’

Following Saturday’s mass shooting in El Paso, Texas, the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, called for stricter gun laws and condemned white nationalist ideology.

Beto O’Rourke Links ‘Racist’ Donald Trump To Deadly El Paso Shootings

Trump stokes racism that “leads to violence,” the ex-congressman says as the president offers “thoughts and prayers” in a tardy tweet.

Beto is right. The blame goes on the crazies as it should, but Trump has embolden racists with his rhetoric.

Pretty sure most of these mass shootings have been carried out by someone using an assault "style" weapon. There is no reason for any "ordinary" citizen to own an assault "style" weapon.

Anyone attempting to purchase one should be subjected to an extensive background check and required to justify the need for one. Of course this will not banish these weapons, but it'll significantly reduce their presence and hopefully keep them out of the hands of people like the El Paso shooter. Should those who already own one be required to turn them in...a buyback?

Sticky situation, but my answer would be yes.

I mentioned this in another thread.

If there were better criminal and mental health background checks. Along with ending the gun show loophole and stricter sentencing for those who bring guns over state lines for the sole purpose of selling them in the street to people with criminal records that have no business to even be near a gun. None of that would be restrictive for legal law abiding gun owners.

But the bought and paid for Cons will sit on their hands as usual and won't back tougher gun laws. If Cons really were the Party of Law and Order they would see to it that tougher gun laws are passed.

I woke up this morning with news of another mass shooting.  Do we ever get numb to one mass shooting after another?  This seem to be the current normal that we have come to see. Thoughts and prays are just words that doesn't seem sufficient to address the currency of destruction.

Trump's racist rhetoric provides a nod to white nationalist to create havoc. White supremacist seem very comfortable to come out of the closet with words of "blood and soil", they will not replace us as Trump famously said...go back to where you come from....  In the mean time GOP legislators refuse to enact safer gun laws.

As we can see, this doesn't end well. Will anything get done to address it?  No..we need to send Trump packing and flip the Senate to neutralize McConnell

I'm no fan of Trumph, but I find this a bit silly. You are blaming Trumph's words for driving mentally ill people to shoot up crowds of strangers (of all colors)? I don't buy that. These people are being driven by their own sickness.

Trump is using Hitler's approach: Dehumanize your intended vicitm so the general populace will accept that hatred and the mass murder of them is acceptable.

TЯump is the most divisive person that I have ever seen. First he basically tries to pin whites against people of color, then he tries to pin rural areas against cities.

Jeffrey Toobin

@JeffreyToobin

Keep in mind that the new Supreme Court majority (especially Thomas, Gorsuch and Kavanaugh) are determined to expand the reach of the Second Amendment and make any efforts at gun safety, including for large weapons, constitutionally prohibited.
