Biden to reverse Trump orders seen as hostile to federal workers

President Biden on Friday will knock out the main pillars of his predecessor’s policies toward the federal workforce, the White House has said, by repealing Trump administration orders that restricted bargaining and appeal rights and another that sought to remove civil service protections from a large class of employees.

Federal agencies for several years have cited the union-related orders to restrict the subjects over which they will bargain, although the rules needed to carry out the disciplinary policies were finalized in the fall.

The latter order, issued in October, could have turned tens of thousands of career employees — or more — essentially into political appointees, although time ran out on the Trump administration before it could make those changes.

That order — which was widely criticized for potentially politicizing the civil service — sought to move career federal employees whose work involves making or carrying out policies into a
new category to be called Schedule F.

House Democrats have renewed their long-stalled demand for Donald Trump’s federal tax records, but the Biden administration has not decided whether it will drop its predecessor’s objections and release the Treasury Department records to investigators, Justice Department attorneys told a federal judge Friday.



McFadden also kept in place an order requiring the government to give the former president’s lawyers 72 hours’ notice before releasing his tax return information to allow them to file a request to block the release.

Separation-of-powers issues that have slowed the case “may fall out” now that Trump is no longer in office, the judge noted.

“It would be a former president trying to stop a political branch, rather than one branch suing another. At least that’s my instinct,” said McFadden, a 2017 Trump appointee to the federal bench in Washington.

L_L I would expect IRS to turn donalds taxes over to several people, SDNY and the Congress should both have them, the man is under investigation for tax invasion and so many other tax laws, he's being brought up for his second impeachment charges, it's only fair to put these criminals where they belong, in jail, no one, not even the POTUS is above the law,if guilty nail them to the wall...
