Another "team" played baseball game . Love it! Many contributors. BTW For the record I would love it if someone on this Message board could tell me the person whether a scout/talent evaluator/Cashman/Coach/Manager, Analytic Guru, or any combination thereof, that made the decision to pick Greg Allen to send down after Gardner was signed to a contract for 2021. I would appreciate knowing who you think was responsible for that major miscalculation. It has me baffled.
loving what allen has brought to the team in his 16 PA so far and hope he keeps on. and while i'm lovin' it, let's hold off on the HOF for another game or two. there's a couple of players who you've fallen head over heels over, only to never wanna see them again after they come back down. so far in his career though he was a SW, above average fielder and could steal bases, he hadn't hit much. after being traded from the indians to the padres (for whom he played 1 game), they dfa him and we picked him up. then when we signed gardy, we dfa him and he passes through waivers. 29 other teams passed on him. so we're not the only ones who made a "major miscalculation". the good news is he's here now and brought a new energy to the team. perhaps he's the real deal or at some point does he revert (he hit .105 in ST btw). we've seen this a number of times recently with guys like tauchmann, ford & maybin. if he keeps playing like this, then maybe we've found the answer to our CF problem.

Bumper, once again you bring a bit of reality to the discussion. I'd add that Allen is 28 and was not considered a top prospect. Someone to fill out the AAA roster but could play a few games at the MLB level in an emergency. No one is pulling harder for him than I am, I would love it if he turned into another Urshela but the chances are low. I'm gonna enjoy the energy and good play for however long it lasts but with clear eyes.

a lot of unlikely heros in this one.
Yes..scared!!!
Me too Lauren... I turned it off. I didn't watch the 10th inning. I didn't want to be up all night with disappointment if they lost. Much to my delight the Yankees won!

Of course Jpep can't just enjoy the win. He has to look for something to complain about... and someone to blame.

Of course you are 100% correct again Bumper. It's fun watching these guys come out of nowhere and contribute to a couple of big wins but for me a realistic expectation is for them to keep our heads above water for a couple of weeks.
Because I'm in Lake George with no TV I haven't seen a game since Sat night. I've been saying for months that guys that play like Allen with speed, left handed contact hitters are exactly what this team has been missing. I love having a running game mixed in with power provided by the big guys but history says they're not the guys to do it over any sustained period of time. I'd love for Cashman to go after a couple of guys like that. Guys that have done it before or guys with a big upside potential. Brian Doyle won us a World Series but couldn't break into anyones starting lineup. I hope the Yanks make a big run and I hope these guys continue to make a contribution but I firmly believe that for that run to happen, Judge, Stanton, Sanchez, Torres and Urshela will have to lead the way. Meantime I'll enjoy the contributions the Allens and LaMarrs make because it's a great story but I'll balance it by tempering it with the expectations history has shown us about them

I'm ertired so I stayed up to end. Otherwise it would be lying in bed awake wondering.
It was already after 11 when they went to the 10th. I know pretty much everybody here hates the "ghost runner" but most extra innings games now end in the 10th or the 11th and, frankly, I'm beginning to think that's a good thiing.

the ghost runner and the 3 batter rule for relievers never bothered me that much

I think it was 11:15 when I turned it off... of course I had to check the score 1st thing this a.m. I read the recap on MLB... cute story on LaMarre...Gardy was ribbing him before the game for being suited up in his Pinstripes by 5:30... a full 90 minutes before the game. His game winning hit caused his Jersey buttons to be popped off during the celebration! Good for him... he must be on cloud 9 today!

The three batter rule doesn't bother me although I'm not sure I understand why they implemented it. I don't like 7 inning doubleheader's and the ghost runner, more like beer league softball. I guess a lot of this is to try to shorten the games but I think you'll agree new, there are many other ways within the game to shorten it. Five minutes for a review that is blatantly obvious is ridiculous along with the pitchers that take forever to throw each pitch.

absolutely agree there are other ways to shorten the games luv and you're certainly right that the time in between pitches is sometimes ridiculous as is the replay time. I liked the 3 batter rule when they implimented it. Just made a lot of sense to me.
