you mean you were too scared to watch a lot of unlikely heros in this one.
Yes..scared!!!
Me too Lauren... I turned it off. I didn't watch the 10th inning. I didn't want to be up all night with disappointment if they lost. Much to my delight the Yankees won!
I'm ertired so I stayed up to end. Otherwise it would be lying in bed awake wondering.
It was already after 11 when they went to the 10th. I know pretty much everybody here hates the "ghost runner" but most extra innings games now end in the 10th or the 11th and, frankly, I'm beginning to think that's a good thiing.
the ghost runner and the 3 batter rule for relievers never bothered me that much
The three batter rule doesn't bother me although I'm not sure I understand why they implemented it. I don't like 7 inning doubleheader's and the ghost runner, more like beer league softball. I guess a lot of this is to try to shorten the games but I think you'll agree new, there are many other ways within the game to shorten it. Five minutes for a review that is blatantly obvious is ridiculous along with the pitchers that take forever to throw each pitch.
absolutely agree there are other ways to shorten the games luv and you're certainly right that the time in between pitches is sometimes ridiculous as is the replay time. I liked the 3 batter rule when they implimented it. Just made a lot of sense to me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A lot of time was spent bringing in a loogy then another reliever in the middle of an inning. As for replay...there's no reason for the umps to huddle with earphones on. A simple signal to the crew chief can indicate the call stands or should be overturned.
I really hope Cashman has paid attention to what has transpired the last few games. Yes the team has hit some home runs but the small ball trickled in has really been the difference. We finally have some guys in the lineup that can execute this type play. Do not get me wrong, We need Judge and Gio back ASAP but when you have a guy like Allen or even Florial in the lineup the stolen base and taking the extra base is big. If they do make a move at the TD I hope in addition to some pitching help they bring in a guy with speed who can hit for a good average that is preferably lefty. If Cashman trades for a Joey Gallo type he should have his head examined. The last thing we need is a guy who Ks 200 times a year. I don't care how much power he may have.
I don't like the 7 inning doubleheaders or the ghost runner ... I also think the three batter rule has taken some of the strategy out of the game ... they should go after these pitchers that take forever to throw a pitch ... and there is no need for the way the umpires huddle together to find out what the result is for a challenge ... could be done quicker.
One of the things I have wondered, if in an important playoff game, a LHRP comes in to get a tough LH hitter out and then calls out the trainer because of "tightness in his hammy" only to be replaced by a righty. Would there be any recourse? Wonder if any teams have thought about this for a high stakes game?
MLB might take a long hard look at that.
MLB has to take a long hard look at a lot of things. I'm not liking the direction the game is taking.
