If Brian Cashman wants to trade for Minnesota Twins right-hander Jose Berrios, he will face some competition from a pair of heavy hitters in the National League.

MLB Network’s Jon Morosi reports that according to sources, the Twins are “discussing José Berríos in trade talks with multiple teams, including #Padres and #Dodgers.”

Twins are so fed up with the Yankees beating them in the Playoffs, I don't see them helping the Yankees if there is any other trade partner ??

In my opinion, the Twins don't care about that and will accept the best trade offer. Berrios would give the Yankees an excellent top 3 in their rotation like they used to have when they were winning championships.

Berrios has pitched in three post-season, and, as the Twins haven't won a postseason game in 20 years or so, hasn't won any of them.  He pitched poorly in relief in the Wild Card game in 2017. His start in game 1 of the 2019 ALDS was mediocre and brief, 3 runs and 1 earned run in 88 pitches over 4 innings. He made a solid start in game 2 of the 2020 ALDS vs. the Astros, but again, it was a short one. Just 1 run over 5 innings and 75 pitches.

So I don't know how solid he would be. Maybe he'd do better as the #2 or #3 guy after Cole and either Taillon or Kluber. But that's just speculation and very unlikely speculation at that.

We haven't had any length in our rotation outside of Cole except for the last starts by German, Tailon and Monty. If you look at his stats this year his ERA is 3.5 and he averages about 6 innings a start, That would put him right behind Cole in our rotation. I mean who would you rather have pitching him or King? WE have been shuffling all year looking for another starter. Yeah I know Severino is supposedly coming back but he will not be giving them any length as he will need to build up and be on a pitch count.

Well, the way Monty and Taillon have pitched lately, a front four of Cole, a healthy Kluber, Taillon and Monty isn't that bad, with Severino as a wild card based on how he recovers. If they can get Berrios, I'm all for it, but the price will be enormously high, as I think a whole bunch of teams with more top prospects near the majors (including the Dodgers, Padres and Giants, and maybe the Mariners, too) will battle for Berrios.

But all this is a pipe dream. As it stands now, I don't think the Yanks are making the playoffs this year. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think so.

Just my two cents, but I would bet if Twins have similar quality players offered for Berrios, they do the trade with other team... I live in Twins country and there is no love for helping the Yankees in any way... But of course, it's about that way with any team, we always have to overwhelm to get a player...

I think this last series with Boston put the nail in the coffin as far as any playoff hopes. Hope I'm wrong too but this team just doesn't show any consistency to make a run.

Rare disagreement Qwik, We both could write a list of Hall of Famers who didn't play well in the postseason, that list would be even longer if I went by a player's first few postseason games. I'm not saying that Berrios is a Hall of Fame pitcher, but 3 appearances isn't enough to judge him by. He's had a good career so far and would probably be the Yankees best pitcher not named Cole.
