As many as eight clubs are in the mix for Nationals ace and three-time Cy Young winner Max Scherzer, per Jayson Stark of The Athletic (Twitter link). The Dodgers, Giants, Padres, Red Sox, Rays, Blue Jays, Astros and Mets are all interested, according to Stark, who adds that the Yankees also inquired but were told Scherzer isn’t likely to waive his no-trade rights for a move to New York.

NY is not for everybody.  Scherzer knows himself well enough to avoid NY.

Then Boston really makes no sense either. It is about as much a pressure cooker as NY is.

Sooner or later it had to start. Coming to the Yankees has lost it's shine. It doesn't take a player long to realize there are lots of issues associated with coming to the Yankees. To me I would see a few things to deal with and question. The number one thought I would have is this. While there are a few teams that are set up that follow using analytics very closely in all facets of the game, why do the Yankees have the same basic problem and nothing ever changes. They all have managers that follow a script, but yet their managers are up for manager of the year often. They have high strike out hitters but they are spread out more in the line up not all bunched up.

Other similarities abound but yet the Yankees can't run bases well, make simple mistake, are totally unathletic, are dominate with right handed hitters, have bull pen problems almost with the entire late inning pitchers etc. So overall besides the scrutiny each player is under with the media vultures,  The corporate unity code for dress and personal appearance in clone like fashion,, the fans demanding a winning team every game, and the New York reputation for must win or your a failure, it is immediate stress the minute your plane lands and you get in the box for your first at bat or throw your first pitch. Who wants that if you are playing a game in 2021?

you miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

He is not what the Yankees need most and not worth what it would cost to get him.

You might recall Otani nixed New York as a place to sign too.

Totally agree, if doesn't want to come here why would we want him... Besides I don't think pitching is our biggest problem... we need a LH hitting outfielder, that doesn't strike out half the time...
