Voits a much better hitter than Gallo ... why would you trade 4 prospects and get rid of Voit for a lesser hitter????

Gallo can hit the same homeruns, and Voit could be traded for pitching.

that was my point above mo. not that gallo was replacing voit directly but that he's a "similar enough" type hitter (a type we already have in overabundance) that it makes him expendable for pitching or perhaps a contact hitting CF'er. despite the down season, i believe voit might still have some trade value.

Homerun king ... definitely still has trade value ... especially because he hasn't played much ... no way to know whether he can still hit or not.

Gallo hit 40 homeruns two years in a row, get back to me when Voit does that. Also he's a better defender than Voit at his position and can play all outfield positions along with first base and third base. The prospects they gave up were lower level and probably be lost in the rule 5 draft. Any other questions?

With Gallo being added does Voit get traded if they can move him for a pitcher ?? I don't see him sticking around, the infield is pretty good with Odor, or do they move Odor and put Voit back at first and DJL go back to second base... Odor has kind of grown on me, and he's a left handed bat that hits with power, kind of fits this team pretty well ??

Most of Gallo's career has been as an outfielder. Mainly RF/LF, some CF. He has played some 1b and 3b.

He was likely brought here to be in LF, since he won his Gold Glove in the OF. Gallo coming here really should not impact Voit. If anything, acquiring a SS will affect him.

The Yankees wanted Gallo to be more left handed. They are not going to do that and then move on from lefty Odor. With Gallo in lthe OF the only place for Stanton is at DH. Unless there is a trade of Urshela or Torres, where does Voit fit ?

Gallo won't be the reason that Voit goes.

Rizzo will apparently be the reason.

I like Voit a lot, but it seems as time goes he can't stay healthy ?? I think these football like players have trouble playing baseball and staying on the field... Gallo has been healthy for most of his career, that's means a lot to me...

Me, neither. Alcantara and Vizcaino have high ceilings but are at least 2-3 years away. Cubs might turn both into real players. And Rizzo is a 2 month rental. But he fits the team right now.

And he might like it here and Hal just might open his father's coffers, esp. if he moves us into the WS hunt..
